Nate? Avery? Adelman?
I'm Just trying to see how my fellow Blazer Maniacs feel about the coaching situation. I personally believe that we have every piece that we need, as far as our roster is concerned, to win an NBA Championship within the next few years with the right system, strategy and Identity. So please put your two cents in and let me know what you think. Is Nate the right coach? Larry Brown? How about Isiah Thomas? Whoa I didn't mean that one! but seriously, The Championship window doesn't open for every team but it has for us, Now we just need to ensure that we have a coach who can push us through.

Coaches that really give you an edge over the competition are few and far between.
I do not see Nate as being innovative enough to give a team an edge! Do you? If so what is it that he does so much better than other coaches?
The best players only try to, "do it all," themselves when it is a playoff necessity or, on occasion, to put on a show. There is no need to belabor the point!
I am not sure that the information is comprehensive enough
to draw too many conclusions from, but if true, it would seem to indicate an edge. The next question that would have to be answered is, "What proportion of the edge comes from the players? from the organization? from the coach?"

I think we can all agree that at least some of it comes from the coach.
You’re looking for innovation, and I agree that doesn’t seem to be his strong suit. His strength lies in the psychological aspect of the game, which has been born out in his relationship to his players, how he handles disruptive influences and, as mentioned in the article, how he manages the emotions of the team in a timeout. I would argue that this skill is equally if not more valuable than the ability to put together creative answers to what the opponent throws at you.
Obviously what we’d like most is a coach that does both well, but I don’t think the Rockets are giving him up anytime soon.
Innovation is overrated.
Humility and flexibility are underrated.
Those are the qualities Nate must display to take this team as a team to the promised land.
This year, with as strong as our team is, even injured, is still a learning year. Nate is a good coach for a learning team. I am glad he recognizes he can’t drive the few players he has left so hard in practice. I hope he will find a way to make his teaching happen in games.
LOL legitiatly
Really? had to be a word i made up just now right? Realistically would have been better…..My bad

If yo ulike the roster, then you don't want Larry
He’d trade everyone but Howard.

coaches can't trade
but they can ruin chemistry quicker than Bob Whitset can write a fat check to a rapist
I'm not advocating fire Nate but I don't think he's an upper echelon coach
For example Phil Jackson would run circles around him mentally if and when they meet in a playoff series. Granted Phil is one of the all-time greats, but this is who Nate is up against.
I think Nate is ok, I’m not convinced he’s the guy who can coach a dynasty though.

Also think Nate has an odd way of fighting against reality
Just because he didn’t see that reality first
There are numerous examples

yeah
I would love to see Adleman come back.
Nate is not the worst
I like to think of coaches like poker players at a high stakes table. There are the coaches who play the odds, like Nate, and there are the coaches who know how to mix it up just right to throw people off and get under their skin, Van Gundy.
To me Nate is a very meticulous coach. He will play the odds, but he wont ever play while holding anything other then a face card even if he is set up to just muscle people on bluffs. That is where people have issues with Nate. He is a winning coach, but it is based on playing it safer then most coaches. Not a bad thing when you are trying to coach a team to get past the first few sets of tables. But you have to have a firm grasp on ALL aspect of the game to make it to the final rounds and sit in the winners circle. Does Nate have that? I dont think anyone really knows. We havent had the opportunity to really test him at it. He is a winning coach and his methods have now captured a winning record with our team. However, only by watching what he does in more then one playoff series will we see what he has under the hood.

travis is good on offense...
The Blazers need someone to score..I guarantee that if travis was playing that the Blazers would not have needed to put the starters back in against Detroit.

also
they may have won the game against Atlanta. I dont think Nate “Loves” Travis to the extent that I assume you are talking about. Nate just knows that Travis is/was important for Portland’s success. He is VERY valuable on this Portland team.
