Chris Snethen, who blogs at On The Vig, tweets from the Bill Simmons book reading.
-------
I asked about Drexler's Pistons. [Bill Simmons] said he was thinking Isiah [Thomas] and wrote Drexler. Said it's not even the 25th best typo.

not sure i buy it......

ofcourse thats what he would say. What other type of excuse could he have? Umm….lemme try "it was that i was thinking of Dennis Rodman since i had been watching alot of old tape, i put on a dress, i called Madonna and professed my undieing love (to which she replied, who r u?) then got my nose peirced and finish the “Drexler pistons” portion." Thats it! i knew it!

Ok i have vented…..i still consired him a douche for that misprint. But thats just me.

I don't consider the typo an issue.

BUT: I wouldn’t have told someone in Portland that I meant to omit the Blazers. I would’ve blamed it on my publisher.

From his blog, among a list of other typos

Page 609: Typo. Says “Drexler’s Pistons” and obviously should say “Drexler’s Blazers.”

Isiah and Drexler

Both names are pretty similar.

brilliant

so Jordan “demoralized” 8 teams, including both the Bad Boy Pistons AND Isiah’s Pistons. Apparently those are distinctly different teams and Portland doesn’t make the cut. He can’t even get his typos right.

Love the book

but it’s totally biased towards eastern conference finalists.

What a lame excuse

Drexler’s Blazers were much more of a factor in the NBA in Jordan’s era than Barkley’s Suns, Malone’s Jazz and Miller’s Pacers, yet he managed to get those right, and his only excuse was that the Blazer’s shouldn’t have been in there at all?

Why am I so ambivalent about Simmons?

I tried to hate him and for a little while I did. But when it comes down to it, I just don’t care about him or what he has to say about anything. He’s a nobody to me.

I still don’t understand why anyone would want give up their good money to buy his book or stand in a line just to have him sign it.

That stuff is quite popular isn't it?

I reckon if one of my nieces or nephews asked me, I’d go stand in line with them. They’d have to bribe me with a lot of peanut brittle though.

I think the guy is funny.

And that everyone is being oversensitive. Not every sportswriter needs to have a Blazer bias like Henry on Truehoop. I like Henry and Bill.

Never in my life have I seen people get so worked up over a typo

It is getting pathetic. good god, MOVE ON.

Does anybody else have some observations about the book reading? Was there a big turnout? Was he funny? I’m curious what he might have had to say about Portland and the Blazers….

is that Bo Outlaw's Portland team or Rudy Hernandez's Blazers? Or maybe that team with greg odom in the 503?

Please, for the love of all that is holy, please stop using the following: "Book it.", "FTW", "Epic" & "Fail".

...no seriously--stop.

Hear hear!!!!

I’ve lived in PDX 42/45 of my time on the planet, but as man says, good gawd! I totally see why Portland fans are percieved the way they are with displays as above…when did BE turn into O-live?

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
