Oden gets no love on nba.com
This article annoyed me, then really got under my skin when it mentioned rebounding as a Blazer weakness last season. Two years ago? Definately. But not last season.
I guess that just gives me another myth to sell. Blazers can't rebound and B-Roy has no athleticism (note: that wasn't mentioned in this article).

Haters gonna hate
Calling LMA “Allergic to the paint” he hasn’t watched him at the end of last season or so far this one. You don’t average that many O boards being “Allergic to the paint.”
Oden is a dominant rebounder, period. Look at his rebound rates! This Powell guy is a tool and doesn’t do his research. He’s just pushing the narrative like the Fox News of the NBA.

I expect these articles to pop up
But was surprised to see something so poorly put together right there on the front page of NBA.com
Usually those articles are pretty bland. I was expecting a “Oden has shown flashes, but isn’t there yet” piece. Not an Oden is terrible and probably too old to get it together now, how long can/will the Blazers wait?

an analogy
You know, like fox news and their “revisionist history” news footage of Palin, or attributing footage of the really big 9/12 rally to another rally several months later to make the 2nd rally look bigger.
Look, I’m fairly conservative (libertarian-ish really), but Fox news is biased as hell, there is no two ways about that one.

this guy has his head...elsewhere
has he even watched the blazers this season? likely just goes over the box score after the game, he obviously doesn’t have a clue if he’s unsure of Greg’s foul trouble… what a tool
Lovers gonna love
I don’t even want none of the above…
Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed.
Drink the haterade hater mchate
It seems obvious that guy hasn’t watched a game yet.

If by yet you mean in the last 2 years
Then you’re 100% correct.

Why draw attention to it?
These guys are all Simmons wannabes who can’t come up with an original thought.

The press loves to hate
I’ve never seen a player who is so irrelevant in the eyes of so many press members get so much attention for such irrelevance for so long a period of time.
This Greg Oden is so not news that I need to write a big old article on how un-newsworthy he still is! See what I’m doin’ there? Yeah, got you to read my article didn’t I. Suckers!
Wait, rebounding was a weakness for Oden last year??
right

thanks for starting Andre
Duh...
As Shaun Powell (the crappy author) said:
At this point, what the Blazers want most is rebounding. That was an alarming weakness last season, when Oden averaged seven a night. He’s more active on the glass now, but the increased contact also has resulted in foul trouble. By comparison, Przybilla grabs just as many rebounds per minute.
He makes several fantastic points. Przybilla’s rebound rate was better than Oden’s last year… as well as every other rotation player in the league aside from Dwight Howard and Andris Biedrins. Weak sauce on Oden’s part, not beating Joel.
Also, we must credit him for his fantastic analysis. I mean, how many people would have realized that Oden is getting in fould trouble now that he’s hitting the glass more. What with his foul’s per minute dropping and all, that’s a pretty amazing point the rest of us would have missed.
Thank you, Mr. Powell. Were would we be without your insight?
The revealing comment to me
was that Oden’s minutes must mean one of three things:
1. Foul trouble.
2. Ineffective play not warranting more minutes.
3. Managing his sensitivity.
That tells us that A) he’s not even done enough research to know B) he hasn’t paid enough attention to know that the “sensitivity” thing is last year’s meme, and has died.
But this is on NBA.com. I bet the refs read NBA.com.

yeah
Must be a big shock to them that Portland was the best rebounding team in the league last year and is something like #2 this year. After all, we’ve got a bust and a stiff at center, and some ninny playing PF.
My favorite insulting part:
He states:
“He’s more active on the glass now, but the increased contact also has resulted in foul trouble. By comparison, Przybilla grabs just as many rebounds per minute "
trying to prove that Greg is not a great rebounder.
Right now Pryz is #2 and Oden is #3 in rebounds/minute in the NBA. Damn we’re stuck with somebody who is only the #3 rebounder instead of our backup who’s the #2 rebounder.
The damning thing
is that shows he actually looked at rebounds per minute stats, and didn’t mention that they are 2-3.
