November schedule - with Poll
Has anyone else looked at the upcoming schedule lately? Looks to me like a real cake walk.
Of our next six opponents, only one has a winning record, and barely winning at that (Chicago - 6-4).
4 of the next six opponents have at least twice as many losses than wins:
- Golden State (3-8)
- Minnesota (1-11)
- New Jersey (0-12)
- Memphis (3-8)
Needless to say, they're bad. Two road games bookend 4 at the Garden.
For my fellow stat nerds out there, Portland is allowing 87.5 PPG which is the lowest in the league. Some other numbers to look at...
- Portland is outscoring their opponents by 7.2 PPG which is 3rd in the league
- 6th in the league in blocks
- 4th in opponent 3PT%
- 2nd in the league in REB allowed, including 1st in defensive rebounds allowed.
None of our opponents rank higher than the Blazers in any of the above categories. This just shows how dominant our big men are, and how important they are to the team.
I really like our odds to finish November strong and go 14-2 in the month. The next 6 games are coming against teams that are either desperate, or fighting to stay afloat in their divisions. Losing Outlaw sucks, but look at November as a extra practice for whoever gets his minutes. It will be a real testament to the depth, and ability of this team if they finish November 6-0. I think its possible. Do you?

Three games we could lose
We could lose at G.S., but since they are so hampered by injuries, we should not.
Chicago could be dangerous. They are stronger than the team we saw last year, and we aren’t really clicking yet. It should be a win, no doubt, but still dangerous.
The game at Utah to close the month is by far the most dangerous. They aren’t really playing well yet, but wins in SLC are always hard to come by.

I agree with jscot
This team should sport a 6 game winning streak heading into Utah. But the Blazers almost never play well against Golden State, so they could choke there if they are not really to play. I would be disappointed if they didn’t at least run off another 6 game winning streak, a loss in Utah I can handle but they need to take care of business against these lesser teams between now and then.

Portland has lost 7 of the last 8 to Golden State in Oakland.
The one win came in 2004 (per the post-game radio show last night). Plus Golden State scores like 195 points a game or they used to anyway.
Utah will not lose to Portland at home without a fight. Their fans are as nuts (I mean passionate) as Blazer fans.

Right about Golden State history
but they are really short-handed right now.
If there is ever a time we shouldn’t have trouble with them, it is this game.

Voted before I looked
Utah being the second half of a back to back could be tough, the saving grace is the 1st half is Memphis.

Isn’t the idea to win every game?
