Travis Outlaw Will Have Foot Surgery Wednesday
From the team...
PORTLAND, Ore. – Trail Blazers forward Travis Outlaw will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot, the Trail Blazers announced today.
Dr. Jay Crary will perform the surgery at Southwest Washington Regional Surgery Center in Vancouver, Wash. A timetable for his return will be determined after the procedure.

GET WELL SOON TROUT!
We need you back in January.

Positive healing thoughts your way Travis
Get well soon Travis but don’t rush it. I want you back at your normal 110% efficiency, nothing less. Take care buddy!
Dogs have Owners, Cats have Staff.
I will provide the post-surgery press release for everyone right now:
“The procedure went exactly as planned with no complications. We expect Travis to be out for approximately 6 weeks while he heals and rehabilitates.”
See ya next October, Travis. Come back 100%.

Well, it could play out that way, but not necessarily
The Blazers probably rushed it a little with Martell. I expect they’ll allow another few weeks this time to be on the safe side, and Trout will be fine for the stretch run & playoffs.

I hope he's back for the stretch run, for sure.

Screw it together
This is good news. They’ll screw it together and he’ll be back on court before before you know it.
Get back Travis!
We needed you last night!!

hurry back Travis
We could use an actual small forward on our roster besides Martell. Roy isn’t going to last if he has to guard small forwards every night. – Elgin

Day 4 since injury
and still no official prognosis. But at least this year, they are acknowledging that they fail to give a timetable for his return (which is what the other teams in the league typically do shortly after an injury). So that is some kind of progress.

Darn, this is the news I hoped we wouldn't hear
It makes me think that the stress fracture is in the “slow to heal” area of the bone.
Travis, good luck with the surgery and rehab. Heal well, my friend.
The best US foot surgeons sit in Vancouver, Wash? How convenient.

I believe all major work for the Blazers is done at the SW Washington Medical Center
I was surprised the first time I heard it, but I’m guessing they trust the specialists there.
Or they have their own specialist, and they just use that medical facility for the procedure.
Maybe for feet and knees. Shoulder surgeries were in LA. Hips? I hope they got all covered well.

Oden's tonsil surgery was also in Vancouver
It was at the Vancouver Clinic, which has multiple locations. One of them is inside the Southwest Washington Medical Center, but the location in question isn’t specified.
Aldridge’s heart condition was diagnosed and treated at St Vincent’s in Portland. Martell Webster’s heart condition was going to be reviewed by their team cardiologist, but I can’t find a followup on the location of the procedure. It was very likely at St. Vincent’s too, since it was the same procedure LMA underwent.
Perhaps their favorite specialists are just located in different places and have different primary facilities, since there’s no official team facility?
Very possible the doctor is specific to the type of injury as opposed to the location on the body.
Hips? Pendergraph's surgery was in Vail
My guess is that is Travis will have very simple procedure that the Vancouver surgeon has done dozens of times. No need to fly elsewhere.
Pssshhhtt.
Why are there no good specialists in Portland?

That are good enough for the Blazers?

This is part of the Washington marketing strategy
We’re trying to draw in fans from further and further north, since the Sonics died.

You know...if the Blazers win a title this year,
there will still be starving people, massive injustice, and bad airline food in many places around the word.
There…did that help?

I have had stress fractures in both of my feet.
And they’re not that bad of an injury. My line of work doesn’t involve much running or jumping though. I must say, shamefully, that since they have healed I have gained about 50 pounds. I now weight more than the mighty #25 but at the time I was a slim and fit 165. But I still work long grueling shifts on my feet and it hasn’t happened again.
The feet heal very quickly if you are young and in good physical condition. I remain optimistic for the spry young fellow.

Dang.
Spoke too soon. 3 to 5 months. With the exception of a couple games he was doing great too.
