Kamikaze guards Vs Greg Oden

Trail Blazers vs Bobcats coverage

When will Oden learn that as soon as he get's a switch on D, the speedy guard coming around the pick has only one thing on his mind?  And that one thing isn't the hoop, it's simply lowering his shoulder and driving into Oden to draw the cheap blocking foul.

Greg, I love ya man, and I want to see you play 30 minutes a game, but you're going to have to realize this isn't a Pick-up game at Ohio state man!!  NBA refs call blocking fouls when your feet are moving!!!  Quit playing D like a guard, and lay back in the key and Swat that weak sauce !!!!!  Give me 4 blocks and 4 Goal tendings, instead of the 4 fouls.  Save your fouls for the POST players not the Cheap ones you're picking up from the Kamikaze guards, just to put you on the bench!!!

Agreed, it's to easy to send cheap fouls into Greg it's becoming a game plan for teams.

Heck they could send in a bench player just to drive into him, it’s makes such a difference for our team when he’s able to play. Maybe someone on the outside needs to put those who are intent on doing this on there ass. At least if hes going to get the foul knock their ass down.

Let them pass and then block it once the shot is released

The main problem is our guards can’t keep their men in front of them which puts both Joel and Greg in a compromised positions. If they were able to primarily come in and block shots from the weak side they could avoid a great deal of body contact.

Make it happen Nate. Shalom.

I'm a little confused by your tactics

right on

and even though they have gotten beat they aren’t grabbing the guy. on a lot of em this season there is not much greg can do. there are times when it is purely greg’s fault, he is starting to get better at picking his spots though. There was even a game where the help defenders were reaching in and picking up those fouls as well. Both things need to come together for it to all work…

I going on record to say

I think he getting hazed.

I don’t know why, or to what end, but the refs are looking for things to call on Greg.

Its pisses me off.

maybe hazing

but it does seem ridiculous any way you look at it. Oden gets mauled, aldridge too, and yet the slightest thing draws the whistle on oden…

I blame the perimeter D more than Oden, and also Nate's defensive scheme.

He has said before in interviews that he wants the guards and centers to switch, so the centers learn how to rotate quicker. I think it a flawed system.

Can we please try something different? Maybe some more aggressive point of attack defense, like throwing an extra defender at the pick and roll at the top, to try and squeeze the ball handler, or a trap? I’m really tired of the scenario the OP just described. You can see a foul coming to Greg before it happens. It is just so predictable.

Or a least train the guards to visibly hack the opposing

Offensive player if they have passed “the point of no return” and greg is the only thing in between them and the basket. I feel like Shaq got to do everything short of ripping a guys soul out before he was called for a foul. His whole career was one obese moving pick.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
