Blazers are 3rd in the league in defense
According to Hollinger's version of defensive efficiency rating, the Blazers' defense now rates as 3rd best in the league. And it's within a point of being the best. Obviously playing some not very good teams recently has contributed to that, but it's still worth noting. The Blazers defense has, so far at least, looked much improved this year. Unfortunately, last year's top rated offense has so far been MIA.

and playing horrible teams have made our defense look better than it is. However there has been a large improvement by Oden and Joel playing excellent defense. The offense has appeared stagnant at times showing far too much dribbling around the 3 point line. Pounding the ball to LMA at least appears to make things smoother.
What was the blazers
offensive efficiency last year? They are at 104.9 so far this year, that doesn’t seem that bad.

I can't see to find Hollinger's stats for 2008-2009
but I can tell you that the Blazers ranked #1 in offensive efficiency, and I’m pretty sure the number was above 110. I think it was around 113.

I actually feel like the Blazers are 1st
We hold our opponents to the lowest scoring average in the entire NBA at 87.1, the Celtics are #2 at 88.3. I know there is probably more to coming up with defensive ratings, but holding your opponents to the least amount of points in the NBA is amazing and has to make Nate proud of this team.
