Blazers' Defensive Efficiency Rating
Hard to believe, but the Blazers' defensive efficiency rating (points allowed per 100 possessions) is currently 97.8, good enough for 7th best in the league. Last year the Blazers had a defensive efficiency rating over 106 (17th in the league). If we can only get our #1 rated offense back from last year, we'll be dominant.

I believe that's the 13th worst
Thanks for the correction. 107.8 is well over 106.
That said, I think that the Blazers had the 13th highest rating (high is bad). That would make them the 17th best defense in the league last year. So I think my post is accurate in that regard.

No, that's 13th best.
The league average was 108.3. This is from basketball-reference.com. The difference between sites has to do with the possessions formula, so that’s the difference between the 107.8 and 106.
According to b-ref.com, the team is 9th so far on defense at 101.3 with a league average of 105.9.
if you look at raw differentials, blazers are near tops in almost 1/3 of the categories.
after last 3 games the blazers are back in business on the point differential, with close to +7 which is good for 4th in the league.

And Pace
Is still really slow, 3rd slowest pace in the league still. But 4th in Rebound Rate.
I hope I can get a bunch of championships, like 15. " - Greg Oden
