Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

MB writes...

"After going for 18 points and 9 rebounds against the Kings on Tuesday at home, Oden scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in Portland's 89-86 victory at Arco. It took him just 26 minutes to compile the numbers this time, and he did it in a starting role. He got 10 of his points from the foul line on Tuesday (going 10 for 12), and Wednesday he went 6 for 7 at the line.

Nate McMillan is clearly using this time, early in the exhibition schedule, to see exactly what he's got in this new-and-improved Oden. Perhaps no one player is more important to Portland's long-term plans. We know what we're going to get from Roy and Aldridge, and even newcomer Andre Miller will be his old steady self. It's Oden we've watched so closely since day one of camp."

16-19 from the free throw line?

How’d he miss THREE free throws? I mean, no one’s guarding him. What a bust.

He’s selfish.

P.S.

I don't know...

19 FTA’s is an awful lot for one player to hog over the period of two games. Perhaps we’re dealing with a pandemic of selfishness?

Where ya gonna be, Poli?

Me? Section 101, 7 rows from courtside.

by Mortimer on Oct 8, 2009 8:54 PM PDT up reply actions

Section 13, row 7.

Is 101 in the endzone? Those sounds like good seats. I thought about getting tickets there, but I’m always afraid of an obstructed view.

Any suggestions for a good resturant around downtown or Hollywood? The lady and I are driving up from San Diego for the game. We were considering Sompun Thai, Aroma, Spicy BBQ Thai, or Mai Super Tacos. We’re sorta foodies, though we stay away from the super expensive places.

by PoliSam on Oct 9, 2009 6:38 AM PDT up reply actions

No, it's center court <-------------- (bragging)

I was in the end zone close to the court last year and while it was cool being so close, the obstructed view bugged me a lot— especially since I want to see everything.

LAST year for this pre-season game tickets like this were 15 bucks, this year they were 40 because it’s Blake Griffin’s first home game.

Man, I’m the wrong guy to ask about restaurants, but Great Oden’s Raven or other LA Bedgers… I rarely head downtown and when I’m in Hollywood I’m in and out. If ya heard a Thai restaurant is good I bet it’s good since I haven’t been to a bad Thai restaurant here yet.

I’ve been bad about exploring and learning everything about LA.

1) GO is the real deal. Even MIchael Wilbon is starting to think so

2) Can you please do something about the obnoxious “Outback” ad that has just taken over this website? If money is so tight that Dave has to compromise his site to raise revenue, let’s take up a collection.

I completely agree. I hate this ad.. lol

BE has no influence on the ad deals SBN makes. Definitely not immediately.

I hope Dave doesn’t mind that I don’t see or click any ads on the site. Thanks Adblock.

Were they talking Oden on PTI?

Even though the national media fell into the ‘ODEN IS A BUST’ story very easily, if Oden does well they will hype him up again. They would love Oden to be good, just as they love Oden to be a bust.

They just don’t want any nuance between the two. Oden was good, but for a rookie big man coming off an injury. Not good for the expectations of “Big Man of the Decade”. But if Oden becomes that good…

Obama was supposed to be that good

And now what? Chirp, chirp, chirp. I mean who really trusts the media anymore anywho?

Trust what you see, not what you hear. At least 50%. Its better than zero % that we are spoon fed now.

Oden is finally arriving. And exactlly how many days later?
