Sam Smith: Top 5 to be Traded
Among other Blazer tidbits and thoughts, you will find this:
...as Portland also will have Rudy Fernandez handling the ball more.
How do you react to this? What about his other thoughts?

Poor Blake, you wouldn't wish him to end up there
2 of his names might actually get traded for each other: Boozer and Hamilton. That wouldn’t be good for us if Utah had Rip against Rip City.

Talk about sending innocents to purgatory.
What cosmic level sin could Blake have committed to earn that kind of death sentence?

KP is not going down that road, again
One of KP’s greatest regrets is dealing Blake away, the first time
Nate and Brandon would skewer him if he suggested it, again
Blake will accept a fair offer and stay in PDX, he’ll fight tooth and nail for his starting gig, but evventually accept whatever minutes he’s given to stay around for the title run
When reached 39 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
I'd still do it.
Conley is already better than Blake, and probably more suited to come off the bench with the second unit.

See now, that's a rational argument
I just don’t buy the whole “get-Conley-and-Oden-together-because-they’ve-been-friends-since-high-school” thang
Me neither
Oden needs to become a MAN, not be stuck in the past.
Ridding himself of that filthy parasite Conley is like Oden’s lil’ bar mitzvah.
Morty
The Memphis Grizzlies may move Mike Conley, Jr., but I doubt it.
In my honest opinion, Allen Iverson will implode sooner rather than later.
Stupid people have stupid ideas.
I agree.
But “if” they wanted to trade Blake for Conley I would do it. Heck, throw in Bayless and it’s still a deal.
Friendships don’t matter very much in basketball. However… Oden is a 20 year old kid who’s going to be negotiating his contract soon, I could see having Conley as a pretty big chip. In most cases it wouldn’t make a difference, but having his best friend on the team might be enough to keep Oden around for a long time. That sort of thing matters to insecure 20 year olds.

Remember it's Memphis
Trading Conley may make sense, but that doesn’t mean they’ll do it. This is a team that got rid of Gasol because they didn’t want to pay him, then traded for Z Bo who makes more and is worse. I don’t see Outlaw resigning with us and I’m doubtful on Blake and if Bayless does develop into a NBA player I see him as a 2 guard, so any of those three I could part with.
I hope the Pistons don’t trade Rip to the Jazz for Boozer. It’d be pretty bad if we offered Millsap a toxic contract so they had to trade Boozer, then they get a good shooting guard who’s best playing off the ball to go with Deron Williams. I’m still baffled by the Pistons tanking their season for cap space and spending it on Gordon and Villanueva. Overpaying for big names who aren’t going to make an all star team or make other players better is what got the Knicks in the mess they are. Ok, we had Z Bo and Miles, so I guess every team does it.
Your confusing thesis has captured my attention. Tell me more.

Wait, Oden is no longer moody and Portland not in the market for a point guard anymore? That's crazy talk!
Next you will tell me that KG is starting to break down or Peja is no longer an All-Star.

Personally, I think Sam ought to know better ...
… than to make predictions about Oden this early into his career.
hakkaa päälle !
It's Sam Smith!
It’s Sam Smith! When have his stories ever been grounded in reality? I read him for entertainment, but I don’t put any stock in what he writes. He and Vecsey are one and the same — bombastic and rarely accurate.

Is there a single credible NBA media guy over 50?

The brother of Peter Vecsey, George. He writes for the New York Times.
No idea how old beat writers like Ira Winderman are

TRADE OUTLAW
Trade Outlaw to Memphis for a first round pick, and sign Udoka and Collins
Trade players for picks and draft Cole Aldrich 2010

The Memphis Grizzlies no longer have the need nor the cap room for Travis Outlaw.
As it stands at this moment in time, the New Jersey Nets are the best fit out there for Outlaw.
Stupid people have stupid ideas.
Could we trade Trout for a pick to NJ
they do have the VC trade exception
Trade players for picks and draft Cole Aldrich 2010
Isn't Outlaw worth more than a pick?

Depends on the pick
I can tell you how to make an Excel spreadsheet that proves Portland wins 62 games this year.
The Big Trade
Reasons:
Nocioni is a better defender than Travis, and a huge big-game player (at least for Argy)
Marc Gasol is going to leave Memphis anyway. No doubt. So they need to get something for him.
Bayless would go insane pretty soon if he stayed on as the Blazers’ 11th or 12 man.
The rest is basically to make caps work and to follow Smith’s ideas.
Barf on the Noche. I hate that guy.
If we are pretty sure we can’t retain Joel than this is good for us. Too good. I don’t think Memphis would let “The Tank” and Conley go for that package we’re offering. I think it would take Rudy or Batum in lieu of Bayless.

Sacramento is the only team that would benefit from such a trade.
Anyway, Marc Gasol won’t leave Memphis. Gasol is under contract there for this season and next season, as well as will be a restricted free-agent come 2011.
For Portland, Andres Nocioni is a steaming pile of overpaid excrement, Gasol is a slow-footed plodder on defense, and I don’t expect the Memphis Grizzlies will trade Mike Conley, Jr. just ’cause ownership added Allen IVerson to sell tickets.
Stupid people have stupid ideas.
Nocioni is an awful defender
I’d die inside if he was a Blazer. He is the Argentinean Ruben Patterson. Hate Nocioni.
Like Gasol, but would hate to give up Joel and his consistent defense at this juncture.

No way KP ever trades
Blake to Memphis for anyone. After the Darius Miles back-stab I’d be shocked to see Portland deal with Memphis till the current owner dies and the GM moves into an assisted living community.
