Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

I just had a question about NBA League Pass. I heard that there were some serious blackouts around here last year, and if this is the case, than I have no reason to subscribe. Is there a way to watch all the Blazer games with League Pass?

By "around here," what do you mean?

I live in Seattle and get ZERO Blazer games on LP due to blackouts.

I live in Portland

I live right in the heart of Portland.

it’ll be blacked out. To get Blazer games, you have to go comcast.

Ahhh..

Comcast is so expensive unless you get their “triple play” package. I mean, really, $58 bucks a month for Digital Starter?

yep. Gotta hate comcast.

Don’t know if it works, but I have read comments from people saying they signed up for the minimal package, and then before game time, they upgrade their service, and then after game time, they downgrade it. Billing is pro-rated, so you only pay for the hours you had it.

I get the paper, so I don't care!

Don't you need the cable box?

I think you need the cable box to get the additional channels, so unless you somehow got the cable box from somewhere else, I don’t know if that would work.

by Bnaz777 on Oct 5, 2009 11:52 AM PDT up reply actions

You indeed need either a cable box or a cablecard-enabled device

And if it’s a cablecard device, you need to make sure if comcast uses SDV (Switched Digital Video) and if an adapter will work.

Comcast is wonderful. Sarcasm noted.

Comcast does not use SDV in this area,

so you don’t need a tuning adapter with a CableCARD. Comcast has delayed SDV and has only done trials, with no current widespread implementation plans.

I went to Verizon ViOS this year.

Yes still expensive, but I get Comcast Sportsnet, without having to pay Comcast my direct bill.

That should be blacked out too in Portland.

It is insane.

Yeah..

It is blacked out in Portland. It really sucks.

Why not try online feeds

There are plenty of sketchy bootleg video streams online.

less work to become friends with people on blazersedge

Honestly for adults looking for somewhere to watch the game, it may not be too hard to find another BE fanatic living within a few miles that does have comcast and would invite you over to watch the games. To be a good guest, find out what game food they like (maybe subway?) and bring food once a week so you don’t seem like a mooch. When I lived in Portland I’d visit one of my friends and watch games at his place and bring panda express. You get a person to watch with and if they have comcast, they may have a very nice system to watch it on also.

Bring a good quality 6'er of microbrew. I live in Gresham. You're welcome.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
