Nevermind Oden-- where's Aldridge???
According to Hollinger, the current PER for LaMarcus is 3.22. Only Blake is lower, and most Blazers are over 8. He's only at 10 PPG, when he should be closer to 18.
It would seem that his production should be a bigger concern than that of defensive minded Oden. According to Nate, Roy and Aldridge should be our top 2 scorers.
Granted, I haven't read all the comments on every post, but I'm surprised that Aldridge isn't catching more flack.
Meanwhile, Oden's currently got a PER of 10.6, with 10.5 RPG and 3.5 BPG. If he can just maintain the blocks and rebounds (which should come easy), he's going to be fine. I believe his points will come, averaging a double-double for the season.
Aldridge could be a 20-10 guy this year if he would just be a little more aggressive. Maybe someone needs to tell him he's "soft". TAKE IT TO THE HOLE!
If L-Train can muster 20+ points against Houston tonight, I say we win the game.

something must be wrong with the PER numbers
because following the link it shows batum with a PER of 13.66 current for 09-10 despite having yet to play. Do those calculations include preseason?

bayless also has a PER of 8.0, and i don’t remember him having floor time yet either. Also, rudy is a deserving 27.8 and trout has a 21.52 (gag me with a fork). 2 games is way to small to try to squeeze statistics out of, even for us stat geeks.

I agree!
Nevermind the PER. Just re-watch the game. I got DV-R this week and watched the Nuggets game the next day. LaMarcus is tentative, he keeps deferring to others. Just look at the first play of the game. fadeway jumper. no strong drives. Not very intense. If I were LaMarcus I’d be watching clips of K.G. & Amare over and over again. Just don’t mimic their personalities. He needs a little bit of fire in him.
LMA is missing. He’ll come around though….

Yeah watch amare on the Offensive end and KG on the Defensive.
I love how Amare just tries to beast anybody in front of the hoop.

HA! Crap. You're right.
That’s odd though. I just glanced at the numbers.
In that case, ignoring the PER— Aldridge doesn’t look like himself. Admittedly, I was looking for him to come out and be more dominant this season. But at this point, I’ll take even last year’s Aldridge.
Very much agree on modeling his game a little more toward Amare on the offensive end and KG on the Defensive. Good goals. Although, if you had to narrow it down to 1 player for him to emulate— Tim Duncan seems like a more likely goal. Whatever works, just turn it up!

Yeah i predicted that Aldridge would have more of a breakout year
than any other blazer. Its only 2 games in a long season but it doesnt look so good right now.

I do agree
He’ll come around. Sooner the better.

I’ve been doing my part. Nate has said that LMA has the skills to be “dominant” on both ends of the court. I’d settle for one end, at this point
He did toss up that turnaround rainbow horse shot that went in the other night, then giggled about it on his way back up the floor. Just because the Blazers have Greg around to post up doesn’t mean that LMA needs to turn into his generations version of Cliff Robinson or Rasheed Wallace and float around on the perimeter
Or, maybe signing Millsap to an offer sheet was the right idea?

The Per is meaningless, but Lamarcus hasn't been a factor in either game
though he was plagued with foul trouble in the first Houston game. He’ll show up in his 17/7 form eventually, though hopefully better.

Not to worry...
This is LMA’s obligatory slow start to the season. Last year he did it as well. I would rather have him slow start and finish strong. Too bad he can’t be consistent year around!

I agree LMAs #s are lower than expected
but it is only game 2. If I was him though and I wanted to be an all star this year, I would take it to the rack everytime. I would be crashing boards like a maniac. I think 1 problem is we have 2 many scorers so everyone wants to share the ball(which can be a good thing) but LMA is just a little cold right now even though he got his touches. I think he should get 10 rebs a game at the least, and he shouldnt relyon the fade away the whole game. With his length, he could dunk over anyone, he just needs to spend more time in the post. Anyways, im not worried in the least. LMA will heat up and put up some big numbers. LTRAIN IN THE HIZZOUSE!!

after the nuggets game
I heard him interviewed and all he talked about was how bad he played, it seemed to bother him and I think that tonight or soon we will see good LMA and by the end of the year he be even better than last year, seems to be how he operates.

he's back!
10 points in the 1st 5 minutes. THERE YA GO! I still say that if LA gets 20+, we get the win.

i stand corrected
i said i thought if LA could land 20+ points against Houston tonight, we win the game. ouch.
good to see LA’s game coming back though— 27 points, not to mention B-Roy’s 42. nice!
