I think McMillan is handcuffing him.
Looks like he’s making him play just like Blake. Thats not his style.
ok.... WHEW!
There’s Roy. 2-3 on 3s, and 3-3 on freethrows. 9 for him and 10 for Aldridge in the 1st quarter? I like that very much.
Now, let’s get Ariza T’d up and out.
Individually WHEW
Defensively not so whew.

right now the blazers best lineup has got to be with rudy playing point forward and roy at sg
or roy at pg and rudy at sg. LOLOLOLzzz
cause that makes the HUGE and puts shooters everywhere
Once again, blown over-the-back call.
What’s Przy ever do to these refs?

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

Compared to Brooks and Ariza everybody looks slow tonight
LaMarcus started fast and then suddenly everything went downhill
But slowly things happen that they cannot help and the Blazers Fellowship of the Ring begins to break apart
Do I sense that it's Miller time?

Oden
All summer I heard how much oden was progressing, same thing I heard and believed last year. I see improvement on the defensive end but thats about it. He still has foul trouble and hardly any offense.
he would scre at least 10 a game on garbage buckets if he could stay on the floor
and his offense woudln’t seem like much of a problem
It would be the height of folly to extend Oden the way they extended LMA.

I agree. Helps keep this particular crew in perspective...
"A bizarre and extremely rare hybrid Blazer/Laker fan, Timbo has always struggled to contain the Beast Within, like Dr. Jekyll, Bruce Banner, or Ted Kennedy." — Miled Animal
How does talking about Durant's good game bring perspective to a Gameday Blazer thread?
It’s only good for giving perspective on the GM’s performance. that’s not a gameday conversation.
You're the one that said it brought perspective to the gameday thread
I only responded to you with how it didn’t. Instead of replying, you laughed it off.
So again, there’s no changing your mind.
Which crew do you specifically mean?
Us? The team?
Not being sarcastic or mean. just making sure I understood your point properly..
im. not. sure. anymore.
its no big deal. maybe some people can talk about durant if they want and others can just like not particpage and do other topics? its not a big deal
Fantasy Basketball is going on in parallel. Nothing to get worried about, I like both guys.
Only Oden’s rebounding isn’t so hot at the moment that this alone warrants defending him.
But slowly things happen that they cannot help and the Blazers Fellowship of the Ring begins to break apart
Oh cool, didn't know you were talking FBB
I got used to that being in the JD, I spaced that you sometimes cover it in the gameday thread. My bad there!
But come on, no point in bragging about Durant’s performance as people grumble about Oden. It would be like putting a story up about Durant after Rudy’s rookie/soph performance.
I'm aware I won't change your mind, so there's no point in the discussion
It’s cool that we see it differently.
why woulnd't people around here change their minds? i mean the thing was we had to wait and see how they did.
well the season has started and people improve over the offseason. whats the big deal?

I have to imagine Bayless isn't getting on the court for a reason
I’d personally prefer Miller stating, Blake backup and Rudy getting spot minutes (Roy gets some PG in the 4th).
I don’t think it’s coincidental that Oden’s offense dropped when he no longer was in the same unit as Miller. They’re no longer in sync when they are on the court either.
thats what i’d have to guess, not only miller, but rudy is also better than any of our starters at passing the ball inside

Brooks is crazy competitive. I think he loves to show the Blazers what they passed on.
He wanted to be here, and they skipped by him. He loves to rub it in their faces.
Did you ever see that three point contest between Brooks and the NCAA Women’s 3 point champ, in their psuedo-all-star college thing on ESPN? Brooks competitive nature is insane.
He was in the Oden draft.
He was snagged at 26. We took Rudy at 24 after buying PHX’s pick, and Koponen at 30 from a different draft pick trade.
ahh damn thats hard to choose
woulda been nice to trade number 30 up for him. It seems that he has helped usher in the new age of speedy point guards.
I really underestimated him
I did not think he would be a good pro. In fairness, he’s not nearly as good as Portland makes him look, but he’s solid.
not with a slowed down offensive system
his game is sort of like Damon Stoudemire, the only advantage we would have with him, is we wouldn’t have to play against him 3-4 games a year

Greg's defense is improved. That's great.
The fact that he can’t take advantage of David freaking Anderson and instead commits an O-foul is very, very disappointing.
Trevor Ariza still the most overrated offseason acquisition, Dave?
Our perimeter D has been a joke. I think Houston will cool down, but can we get a hand up and at least pretend to challenge shots? Please?
What’s up with Roy’s ball handling? Usually its one of his biggest strengths but he is struggling. Good thing he was on fire from deep.
LMA showed up on offense with some really nice moves. His defense is still a joke though.
Houston’s a good team, but I want to see a lot more from the Blazers.
Ya
But anyone who predicted 20+ points in the first half for Ariza is crazy or….. they are just crazy….
yeah, we need to actually guard him
but Dave has been massively underrating him since the summer when he was an FA.
defense is generally a good way to slow down a red hot player...
I agree with you on everything that was stated in this string of comments…
Well...
Not to take anything away from Ariza – who I like as a player – but any team forced to use him as their #1 option is probably not destined for greatness.
I totally agree
Houston is not good to be a great or even average offensive team (despite what we are making them look like), but their defense is good enough that they will make the playoffs… but they will be ousted in round 1.

I see that ESPN is just wrong
NBA.com says 8 for both of them.
no, that's wrong
Oden’s played 9 minutes. Still a huge disappointment that he hasn’t improved in the foul department. His defense is improved, but not his offense or his fouls. Huge bummer.
posh
Oden’s third foul was what Barrett called a reputation call… they didn’t show the replay which always makes me suspicious
World's phoniest apology-- "I'm sorry."
so
I believe Barrett and Rice… there’s contact on every play… just because David Anderson is a total shmuck doesn’t mean he should get the benefit of the home court whistle
World's phoniest apology-- "I'm sorry."
that last call on greg was ridiculous
he’s bringing good shotblocking and rebounding to the table. It’s early and several starters have played badly so far, you seem to be looking for the worst in the team since the other night. Just sayin’

I don't think that's how IQ works.

Just wait until he starts thinking he should be a 2nd or 3rd option offensively
I am going to sit back and enjoy the show…
yeah, the Lakers will be fine-- Artest will help them this year
but Ariza was the better fit there and also will be the better player over the length of those contracts.
They've got Ron Ron for five five.

Nates rotation experiments are a complete failure

I'm shocked how quickly the turn on Nate is happening
A year ago I swore off conversations about Nate because people reacted like you personally punched him or something.
What frustrates me is I'm convinced
he is the right coach for this team – but he is so rigid at times even when the same results happen, it can get frustrating
I hate Comcast.

Ariza has 21 points. His career high in a game is 26. We're not doing a good job containing him at all.
But slowly things happen that they cannot help and the Blazers Fellowship of the Ring begins to break apart
help drop 30 tonight easy

My pet theory....
is that Nate wears a Blazers uniform under his suit and, in some future moment of pique, will strip off the suit and just come out and do the job himself.
“Sometimes, if you want Ariza defended right, you just have to do it yourself…”
It is nice that we can say that Oden appears to make us a better club when he is on the floor (as opposed to last year when we were often better with Joel)
I just wish that was the case for more than 20 mpg.
I'm frustrated about that too, but feel comfortable that it should improve in time
I just hope it doesn’t create a huge conflict for his contract extension.
