So they draft a player who was always supposed to be a project
And only give him 1 year to prove himself before they dump him?

Alexander was a pretty big disappointment for them.
Even if he was supposed to be a project. A #8 pick should not be a Dante Cunningham level project. It was a high-risk pick. They were hoping for a Tyrus Thomas type of player out of him. They got an Adam Morrison type instead.

Foolish!
Nobody wishes for a Tyrus Thomas…. someone who in their 4th (3rd?) NBA season is stillllll waitin for that year! still waitin! its gonna be this one!…. really!

Tyrus is actually a fairly decent rotation player.
Not exactly what you would hope for the #4 pick, but not awful. Brings a lot of energy, is a legitimate starter (though by no means a great offensive option). I wouldn’t take three of him for LA, but I wouldn’t complain having him on my team.

Tyrus is better than yesterday's LMA.
Hopefully that changes.

He wasn't any worse than Bayless last year
And theoretically he should have more potential to improve since he has only been playing basketball for 5 years. The Blazers picked up their rookie option on Bayless. The Bobcats picked up their rookie option on Morrison, who was worse and paid more and had less upside. It seems like the Bucks ought to give Alexander at least another year to try and prove himself.

Someone else just might.

His game was a lot more like Thomas's than Morrison's
Besides he shot the ball better than Morrison.
He was just struggling to get out there with Jefferson and Mbah.

Got anything to substantiate that?

I'll agree with CroRupt on this one
his workout videos were awesome… and he knew it. I’m sure you can find some on youtube or somewhere. Watch his interviews after his workouts, several of them left me thinking he was very high on himself.

$ must be a significant factor
The Bucks are probably worried about going broke.

Exactly
This is about the $$$. Rather than commit to pay him the $2.76 million for his option, Milwaukee would rather either let him walk or try to re-sign him for less.

joe alexander being awful probably a bigger factor
not to mention rookie contracts , even the 4th years, are cheap.

I think its crazy.
I always thought he would develop slow much like Outlaw.

I am not a fan of Alexander at all and believe he was drafted for being a curiosity
But c’mon, he was just a rook, that is totally unfair.
Unless there is more to the story, like uncoachability or off the court stuff.
I don’t think he’ll be any good (a guy drafted based on his athleticism who is actually a standard athlete for his NBA position— or at least was drafted so HIGH because of his athleticism, I guess he did well in college), but ya drafted him in the lottery. You should give him time to develop.
Weird.
