TIME FOR A CLASSIC BLAZER BEATDOWN...GO NUGGETS!!

Good luck guarding all our weapons...were gonna roll u guys tonight!!!!!  Oden won't step up...and it will be a blow out...ROY plays poorly against us.  We just have too much firepower...your Defense cant stop us.

And ya better guard TELEPORT!!!

Billups will be billups....Melo will put up 30/10...it will be just too easy.  im not impressed with your squad...prove me wrong tonight, but I think you are ONE OF THE MOST OVERRATED TEAMS IN THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE HANDS DOWN.

GO NUGGETS!!!!!!!

I say to you

"Fernandez, to my eyes, is the Blazer who walks that walk most comfortably. A lot of Portland's fans (egged on, dare I say, by their local broadcasters) lament things like how Ron Artest or Yao Ming get to hit Brandon Roy's arms.

But I suspect Fernandez sees all that and thinks: We get to hit arms! Cool!"

Check out this statement from over at Denver STIFFS...
3 things
1. Ty Lawson nickname idea: Nightcrawler? Yeah, a bit wierd, but it follows that teleportation idea. I’m not a huge X-Men fan but I always thought Nightcrawler was bad ass. Bonus; he also is made up of blue skin and yellow eyes! http://marvel.com/universe/Nightcrawler

2. I am not an insutling type of a person, but I have come to the conclusion that Portland fans are a complete joke. So if you do want to take trash to them, be careful, logic doesn’t really apply to thier arguments.

4. We are better than Portland. From every aspect of the game. Each player we have is better then theirs at each position, including the bench. The only advantage they have is at the coaching position. We should be able to beat them tonight and I expect us to beat them tonigh.

Let the rivalry begin.

I love the potential for a Denver-Portland-Utah rivalry

If the three teams fight tooth and nail for the division title regularly over the next few years.

Unlike the Portland-Lakers “rivalry,” which isn’t really a rivalry at all, this group of 3 has had relatively similar success in terms of championships— one franchise hasn’t dominated the others— and is all in one division. One interesting aspect is that all the matchups between the 3 have been dominated by the home team. Can one of them break through and get road wins in these matchups?

Denver and Portland has a chance to become a really fun rivalry.

by jksnake99 on Oct 29, 2009 2:12 PM PDT up reply actions

Agreed

I don’t see the Jazz filling that roll yet as I STILL maintain they’re over rated, but Denver is definitely a good team that can challenge.

how are they overrated?

nobody is picking them to do anything other than make the playoffs this year (I have them as the 7 seed) and they were in the conference finals a few years ago with many of these same players.

more in years past

When they beat Golden State and made it to the western conference. I suppose you’re right in that they’re now about right where people place them… but also keep in mind i’m in SLC where there’s a little more bias. So outside of that, you’re likely right now.

Hype:

Oden is an injury-prone lottery bust.

Portland is young and inexperienced: see early playoff exit last season.

Brandon who?

Lakers and Cavs have many, many more nationally televised games than Blazers.

Where is the hype that Portland is a front-runner in the West = overrated?

I am an oasis of Blazer fandom in a bleak desert of Laker fans.

by RenoBlazerFan on Oct 29, 2009 2:28 PM PDT up reply actions

I don't think Portland is overrated

but I’ve heard the phrase “great young team” about the Blazers about a gazillion times as well as copious amounts o praise for Roy and Nate, in particular.

The Lakers and Cavs are more hyped than the Blazers, certainly, but they are also a lot better than the Blazers. I can understand how some fans of teams like the Jazz and the Nuggets, who have accomplished more in the playoffs with their current players would feel that the Blazers have been prematurely anointed as the “great young team.”

I don’t feel that well myself— I think Portland has been neither underhyped nor overhyped.

Yes, people are noticing Portland's "uprise"

Better at every position?

Let’s do a bird’s eye view comparsion:

Point Guard – Billups/Lawson vs Miller/Blake – Advantage: Denver

Shooting Guard – Roy/Rudy vs ???/JR Smith – Advantage: Blazers

Small Forward – Melo vs Outlaw/Webster – Advantage: Denver

Power Forward – Martin/Andersen vs Aldridge/Outlaw – Advantage: Blazers

Center – Nene vs Oden/Przybilla – Advantage: …tough one. Right now, Nene is individually a more well rounded player than either Oden or Przybilla, but the 1-2 combination of these two guys (compared to Nene’s noticable lack of backup) gives the Blazers the edge in my opinion.

Bench: Blazers. Not even a close comparison.

How many times has Denver seen round 2 of the playoffs?
Answer: 8 times since 1967

How many times has Denver played in a conference finals game?
Answer: 3 times since 1967

Here’s some more recent history.

2008 — lost to LA Lakers, 4-0, first round
2007 — lost to San Antonio, 4-1, first round
2006 — lost to LA Clippers, 4-1, first round
2005 — lost to San Antonio, 4-1, first round
2004 — lost to Minnesota, 4-1, first round
1995 — lost to San Antonio, 3-0, first round

Yep, that’s a team to brag about alright.

Regarding Hedo Türkoğlu:

Look at the bright side, Blazers fans -- you dodged a bullet. He peaked statistically two years ago. He's allegedly 30 but could be closer to 32 or 33 for all we know. (Do you trust Turkish birth certificates? And isn't it weird that he played four years of pro ball in Turkey in the 1990s?)

trolls are actually just really lonley people

How desperate must you be for human interaction to spend hours trolling on another teams board?

54 wins for the Blazers: a good start.

how did this thread happen?

just a normal day at Blazersedge, then out of nowhere a random flame gets rec’d and blows-up into jovial disparagement of all things Nuggetty. What happened? Explain it to me… anyone wise enough to comprehend the mysteries of the internet.

hmmm...

That’s interesting. So nuking the comments makes it read jovial. Part of me thinks that’s creepy, like a sci-fi dystopia of agreement and happiness, but part of me likes it just the same.

if your piss is yellow

than you need to start drinking more h20 or maybe put some snow ina cup and drink that? You got plenty of that, and make sure its white snow, not the yellow one either

it depends

sometimes it’s yellow if you are dehydrated but it’s also REALLY yellow if you take a lot of multi-vitamins.

I sure am glad I dont have to cheer for classless players like Denver fans have to. Kenyon Martin should have taken being called a thug as a complament. The ink is going to the Nuggets head they will be lucky to be 3rd in the divison.

What?

189+ comments, 16 recs? You know I ignored this 2 days ago and I’m trying to understand why everyone didn’t,

I come to Blazersedge to get away from obvious baiting from internet trolls. If I wanted trolls that overuse cap lock, I’d just go to The Blazers forum at OregonLive.

Come on people, does this really need to be, or should it be, a recommended fanpost? …..what’s the cliche? Don’t feed the trolls?

    Now 190 comments including my own? Sorry B’edgers but it’s Troll-1, B’edgers-0.

Um...wow....

Man, I go out of town for a few days without an internet connection and a replacement Nugs fan tries to come and tarnish our good name. Not cool, not cool at all.

A few comments:

  • Denver Stiffs is a joke. I’m sure the owner of the site is a good guy, but I’ve never seen an intelligent discussion on that site, nor have I ever learned anything new there. You want Nugs news? Go to Roundball Mining Co. Not much discussion (sadly), but Jeremy writes great stuff.
  • Thuggets? McNuggets? Come on guys, I know you’re more creative than this.
  • The only good thing the original poster did was hate the Lakers. Other than that, he’s pretty much failed at life.

1-0 Nugs, but it’s early in the season…. All I know is it’s going to be a GREAT match-up all year.

The artist formerly known as Nuggets4.
