Joe Freeman gets some very interesting soundbytes from Nate McMillan regarding Travis Outlaw's defensive potential.

I've actually seen travis play REALLY good defense before.
two years ago i remember seeing him play kobe really really well and thinking to myself that he had the potential to become a lock down defender.
this is a good sign that coach recognizes it. I really want the blazers to STOP platooning this position. He needs to pick a guy (rudy, martell, travis) and give the guy 35 min a game. let them work up a lather! my god!

everyone though I was crazy at the time
but I thought that Travis played the best defense against Artest in the Rocket’s series
and he’s had some big “poke aways” and steals on individual defense, in year’s past
Now, if he can master team defense, rebounding and boxing out he could be a “keeper”.
(the key word in that last sentence was “if”)

If Travis can rebound, defend and be aggressive...
KP can just go on vaca for the year, because there is nothing that needs to be done with this roster to produce a championship…

“He’s long, he jumps, he can block shots, he can rebound the ball,” McMillan said. “You can switch with him and put him on different guys; you can do everything with him. He’s versatile. If you’ve got him at (small forward) with LaMarcus and Greg (Oden), that’s a big front line. That’s a long front line. He can switch and guard a point guard. He can play a bigger (small forward). You can bump him down to a (power forward) and he can front that guy and use his speed. He can do a lot of things.”

Trout's the proberbial Swiss Army knife!
be careful though, that “blade” cuts both ways
Besides, how many championships have the Swiss Army ever won, anyway?
