Beware of international league pass broadband
Hello everyone. This is my first post, I never really felt the need to post but hopefully no one else makes my mistake.
I am currently in Japan and have finally been following the blazers again the last couple years (I know, a true fan watches even in the worst scenarios. Someone get a rope.) So I got the international league pass broadband thinking hey, besides a few blackouts, I should FINALLY get to see most of the season. Easily worth the 130 dollars or whatever it cost.
So imagine how happy I am when I finally get off work to come see the first game after what seemed to be an infinitely long off-season and find all four games blacked out due to national restrictions. So I wait my hour or so waiting for tech support to find out why I wasn't warned that Japan was outside coverage. Finally he says that I was warned about blackouts and posts this.

Right. Apparently for my money I get to see a total of one... let me say again ONE blazers game this season. Hopefully anyone considering buying ILPBB will see this and be able to know exactly how much blazers they are getting for their money. I would have been far happier giving the money to the blazersedge kids.

I don't think you are getting accurate info
and I would press this further.
I can tell you how to make an Excel spreadsheet that proves Portland wins 62 games this year.
Comcast's evil Japanese counterpart Comcastiken
Honestly that doesn’t sound right. Of course, I could be wrong and Stern is indeed screwing NBA fans globally
"I'm at the thingamajig talking the yakety-yak" - Kenny Smith
i dont think that link is correct
it lists the games that are on TV, not online broadband. i had ILP last season and i saw pretty much every blazers game, except when i was not at home. blackout only applies to north america i believe (pacific northwest specifically).
im in australia btw
I don't know about Japan, if a station there has the (national for Japan) rights you will get blacked out
E.g. our French and Spanish friends do get blacked out for games on Canal +/Sport + even though that’s also a Pay TV channel.
But slowly things happen that they cannot help and the Blazers Fellowship of the Ring begins to break apart
3 games blacked out yesterday in Spain and the Blazers´ was one of them.
I´m lucky, I have Canal+ so I can watch the Blazers game TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!
PD: please, Bedgers, don´t tell me how the game ended ;)
Does Canal+ have an internet broadcast service?
Or is it only TV?
I’m quite disappointed with the ILP coverage in Spain.
Somebody someday suggested a way to hide the IP, and thus the country, something related to a proxy…
I´ve read Canal+ sells some single games to be watched live by internet or movil phone.
It´s hard to find about it in its website. Here´s the link where you can find the game and buy it: link
¡Gracias!
Yes, Canal+’s website is chaotic, I tried to find it myself but I couldn’t. Thanks for the link.
The only problem is that I’m not interested in watching the games live… tf I spent three nights per week watching NBA games I’m not sure I would be able to keep my job ;-)
That’s what I like of ILP.
I don't think this is entirely correct either
Last season I used ILP in both the United Kingdom and Australia with absolutely no blackouts at all! I watch every Blazers game that comes on and I’ve never encountered a problem (short of broadband issues).
They do state that there are blackouts which are region-specific, depending on what is airing where you are — so I’m unsure what the coverage levels are like in Japan. The absolutely minimal coverage levels here in the UK mean that I’ve never encountered a blackout.
I’d definitely chase that up further for more info….

i would likely
dispute with my credit card company and tell NBA Broadband to bite me.
"Fernandez, to my eyes, is the Blazer who walks that walk most comfortably. A lot of Portland's fans (egged on, dare I say, by their local broadcasters) lament things like how Ron Artest or Yao Ming get to hit Brandon Roy's arms.
But I suspect Fernandez sees all that and thinks: We get to hit arms! Cool!"

I actually have NBA Broadband for the states now.
and so far the product isn’t bad. Could be better. Archiving is horrible for searching for a particular time/event and I kept over shooting by five minutes or more.
Still, nice stream quality and it’s nice that I could watch some of it this morning and I’ll be able to watch again tonight.

I found the tech support to be helpful. They have "live chat" hours when you can get a tech support person on line and doing email back and forth to work stuff out.

If it's on TV on any channel in the country you're in...
it gets blacked out on NBA LPBB International. I tried this while on vacation in Spain during the playoffs. Yup… EVERY Blazers game is on TV in Spain… So, I had to seek out some sketchy pirate video feed on the Internet…
Nothing has ever made me more homesick in my life than watching the crowd at the RG on my laptop at 5am in Spain.
I hope you enjoyed your holidays, at least
You should explain what you were doing to stay awake until 5am.
Haha, nightlife in Spain is something serious…
