When Will Nate be better than a .500 coach?
No, this is not a "bash Nate" topic. Nate's Blazer coaching record before tonight's game stood at 148 wins and 180 losses. (.451). To reach 500, he has to get to 32 games above .500. I believe that an end of season record of 57-25 would put Nate precisely at .500. So my question to you is:
Not sure why the silly poll editor is only giving me three options before the "Save Poll" button slides of the screen, but I do think this is an interesting question... Ideally, I would have added "Never" as an option, and "earlier than April Fools Day" (the Blazers will be a Mile High that day)...
Feel free to explain yourself below, thanks for listening..

Hey I voted for before the Lakers....
A hater would vote next year… or never, if I coulda figured out how to make more than 2 options work…
Oh, so you wanted to vote never but couldn't do it
Hater.
I can tell you how to make an Excel spreadsheet that proves Portland wins 62 games this year.
Seriously, is it just my browser or something? What's the trick?
I’ve seen polls of more than 3 questions, but as soon as I added the fourth, the “Save” button scrolled off the page, and there were no scrollbars…
Anybody ever see this beore?
Something wrong with your "vision" perhaps?
I don’t have a clue.
But I think if I were having that problem, I would save a draft of the fanpost, shut everything down, restart my computer, and try again.
I can tell you how to make an Excel spreadsheet that proves Portland wins 62 games this year.
Visionary Too?
Nate wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth as a player nor now wants none of it as as a coach. He is out there earning it every single day. Just like the rest of the lunch bucket kind of people I trust and admire most.
Seems Brandon Roy sees the same light. LMA & Oden seem to see the strength and qualities Roy subscribes to also. How unusual, a leader who speaks the truth has followers.
Perhaps everything should happen quicker for this team eh? Obvious and sad. No patience and no virtue, what you get most certainly is charachter never fully developed.
So my question to you is
*
Perhaps the Yankees are your cup of tea in defining what a winner should look like?
The Oden Era, Day 860
Heymoe, I love ya
But Visionary is just asking when Nate’s record as the coach of the Trailblazers breaks the .500 mark. Remember, the first few years really dragged his winning percentage down.
We gotta be 32 games above .500 for Nate to even his W/L record out.
Unless your critique is about something else, that is all I see Visionary2000 writing here.

Heymoe... Nuck nuck nuck...
As a native Bostonian, you will NEVER hear me say kind word #1 about the Yank-mes… Now, THERE, I’m a big time HATER!!
(My sports year is complete when the Yank-Mes, Cowgirls, Fakers and Les Habs don’t win it all…)
Go Phillies!
Thanks for the kind words V2
I guess I appreciate Nate a bit too much sometimes.
Go philly tonite, one game at a time baby!
The Oden Era, Day 865
I'm still processing the loss of Batum. Last season to reach 54 wins
the team had to win 11 of their last 12 games. So that was kind of a “soft” 54. This year, the Blazers won’t be sneaking up on anybody, and roles are not yet clearly defined. 57 wins seems high. Not unreachable by any means. We’ll see.

Where's the obvious poll answer?
“When Nate is coaching the Lakers!”
Duh, that’s totally the answer. Come on!
Dear Paul Allen:
Waive Patty Mills & sign Ime Udoka.

Nice of you to add your sunny outlook to this thread....
Just curious as to your reaction to Quick’s column about Nate and Roy’s relationship? Doesn’t sound to me like Nate is going anywhere soon.

And AK, nice call on...
“Nate will never coach a running unit”…
What did YOU think of that awesome 12-0 fast break Dre led run, hmmmm??
The players were
obviously ignoring the coach at that point……it was all in SPITE of the coach. I’m pretty sure I saw Nate on the sidelines with his veins bulging, yelling “SLOW DOWN!”

I read AK
as sarcastic too, but he left out the correct font to indicate that.
"Fernandez, to my eyes, is the Blazer who walks that walk most comfortably. A lot of Portland's fans (egged on, dare I say, by their local broadcasters) lament things like how Ron Artest or Yao Ming get to hit Brandon Roy's arms.
But I suspect Fernandez sees all that and thinks: We get to hit arms! Cool!"

Whenever they win or do something Nate gets criticized for not doing
it’s always in spite of Nate. Even when he yells at them to push the ball, that’s just code for “SLOW DOWN and take jump shots”.
Nate is the only impediment to a Celtics-like dynasty for the Blazers. He’s the worst coach in NBA history.
So... for that record
does the play-offs count or is it just regular season?

When he isn't coaching rebuilding teams every year.
He hasn’t exactly been dealt the best hand in terms of personnel throughout his career. He’s had decent or semi-good teams a couple years and managed to stretch their talent to it’s potential. The year they had a good run in Seattle, Jerome James, Collins, Fortson and/or (can’t remember) Reggie Evans were on the front line. Not the most talented group. Rashard is a good player, but not because of his defense. Last years team was taken about as far as it could go considering the playoff circumstances.
Again, not bashing him (in this post, anyway)...
Just curious about when his overall record climbs to 50% with PTB… I think it’s this year, a game before we meet the Fakers…
Not saying you are. Just pointing that out.
Hope you’re right.
OK...at least I read the post.
I was all prepared to go “old testament” on a post that was just bashing the coach, saying he was a less-than-.500 coach….then I actually read Visionary2’s post.
I think the answer will be in the first round of the playoffs……because I think the team will probably win 55 games or so.
"I'm a man, but I can change.....if I have to......I guess." - Red Green
Not to be contrary but...
Playoff games do not count toward a coaches win/ loss record. Playoff and regular season games are two seperate things. Thats why you have trivia questions such as “what coach has the most playoff wins, without winning a title.” Answer: Jerry Sloan (FYI)

So...there's the one thing
new I’ve learned today. I thought playoffs did count.
Now that I’’ve learned my one new thing for the day…..I think it’s time to drink.

Playoffs don't count...
When looking at Nate’s REGULAR SEASON record…
hmmm
I predicted 62 wins. However, watching this team they’re not yet clicking like i’d like. I expected a fast start, but Miller is obviously providing some friction on the smooth sailing. (I don’t blame Miller as I think points that Roy needs to adjust as well are valid)
Still, I said 62 and despite the fact I feel 57 would be more realistic I’ll go with “before the laker game”.
It’ll definitely be this year though.

the correct answer is ...
when ever our 32nd game happens this season. I would assume late-january would be about right. To the first 32-0 start in NBA history.
Go Blazers

"and if EVERYONE confronted with a tough, disgusting situation pulled out, I don't think I would have been born." Mortimer
Following the 32-0 start
Roy will be named MVP, make 1st team All-Star & 1st team All-NBA ahead of Kobe
Oden will be Most Improved & Defensive Player of the Year and a 1st team All-Star
LMA will be a 2nd team All-Star
Travis will be Sixth Man of the Year
Rudy will win the All-Star 3 pt competition and be a 1st team Rookie/Sophomore All-Star
Nate will be Coach of the Year
The Blazers will go undefeated in the post-season, crushing the Cavs in the Finals
And LeBron will run to his locker and cry after Game 4, making it the entire season without shaking anyone’s hand.
It’s OK to dream, but if you do, DREAM BIG!!!!!!
