Pre Pre-Game Chat
Interested in talking about the Blazer's first game? This is the place for you. I anticipate a lot of participation on the game-day threads and figured we need a place to start chatting.
What are your predictions for the game?
Who will be leading scorer?
Who will be leading rebounder?
Will Greg Oden get a double double?
How will Martell Webster look?
How will Andre Miller perform?
What cars will Brandon Roy and Lamarcus Aldridge show up in now that they have their contracts signed?

I see
The Blazer’s winning a hard fought game since they are still getting used to the lineup.
LMA will be leading scorer.
Oden will be leading rebounder with 11 points 10 rebounds. (and will get a double double)
Martell will look rusty but luckily we have at least 20 people to back him up.
Andre will still be in preseason form but will get better as we get into the season.
Brandon will show up on a bike and LMA will show up in a new challenger.

I predict I am going to pee in my pants, since Blazers and Lakers are on the tube at the same time.

If this afternoon's Traffic,
is anything like This mornings… no one will be at the game till the 4th quarter…..which is even late by L*ker standards.

Boston and Cleveland play in the East,
and the Clippers get fed to the Lakers on national TV. Is it God or David Stern that hates the Clips?

Most certainly both.

Tomorrow...
Everyone will be talking about Oden’s great defense in the paint, and his line of 20 and 10 with 4 blocks.
Of course, some if the talk will be criticism.

To start feeling a little bad for the clips?

Good idea
No doubt Dave or Ben will wait until 6:45 to put up the open game-day thread…
I have a good feeling about the game… it is a home game which is a bonus and Roy looked sharp in the last preseason game… pretty much everybody but Batum is ready…
I predict a Blazer win, but a game in which they will have to fight back in to win. Adelman is a dang good coach, and that Rocket’s team is going to much faster w/out Yao and their style could take the PTB by surprise…
Oden’s play is going to be determined by how Stern has instructed the refs to call him this year… is he going to get the ticky tack phantom calls or has the rookie treatment been lifted? Hard to say with Stern… I don’t trust him so I can’t make a prediction.
Martell hasn’t impressed me much, but the guy I do think is going to come out strong is … you guessed it— Travis. In fact, the whole second unit has a chance to make a real statement. Travis needs to shut up the doubters and he has no better opportunity to do so then backing up Web.
GO TRAIL BLAZERS!!
I'm gonna put the kibosh on you. You know I've kiboshed before. And I will kibosh again.

I'm super nervous about this game and this season in general
I’ve been thinking of how this might be a let down year ever since reading Brandon Roy make this comment on his summer…
“I didn’t play much basketball during the summer months. In fact, it’s pretty safe to say I hardly touched a ball.”
I am excited to see Oden dominate, I think he will be the bright spot this season.

Cars
I actually am rather interested in the player’s cars. We can get pictures of their shoes (. . . sorry “kicks”) can we get somebody in the garage posting car pics? We’ve talked about their cars before, I think it’s more interesting than some of the non-game-day conversation topics around here anyway. I just hope that Brandon and LMA get something more interesting than just the latest Bentley with 24s and a bunch of TVs. Maybe LMA will get a Veyron in Blazer colors.

I see a somewhat close first half (Blazers by 5 points or so)
With the Blazers winning by about 15.
I’ll say Aldridge will be the leading scorer, Oden with 18 and 12. Webster, I don’t know. I’m just interested to watch him. I remember not being that impressed with him in 2007-2008, but perhaps he’ll fit in well with the team now. Maybe he provides just what the starters need.
Should be an interesting challenge for Miller. He’ll be matched up with Lowry and Brooks, two high speed PGs that he should be able to dominate.

Greg has to avoid two over-eager offensive fouls trying to take advantage of Hayes.
Go easy to start Greg and then turn it on late in the first quarter.

Inevitably someone asks for a pirated television feed.
But until November 3rd, NBA League Pass Broadband is running a free trial. Don’t know if it’ll be blacked out in Portland or not, but the rest of the world can at least watch. And it’s a lot better than some laggy, blurry, pixelated illegalness.

Don’t know if you’ve got to give all your information away, since I’d already done so a few years back. Just have to click the sign up button next to the words “Free Preview.”

Anybody been over to the dream shake today?? Apparently Scola is just as good as Aldridge... Really?
Power Forward
Edge: Blazers – This is a slight edge based on overall production last year. In a one on one match it can move pretty close to even.
Scola – Scola is going to be in a battle the first half of the season with Aldridge in more than one way. Their games are going to compete on a national level when it comes to All Star voting. Scola is going to lead the Rockets in scoring, of that I’m pretty confident. His stats are going to look something like 19 and 10 by seasons end.
vs.
Aldridge – I’m not sure how Kevin Pritchard convinced LMA to take 10 million less than Brandon Roy, but it was an absolute stroke of genius. I’ve wondered aloud for a while how they were going to keep this team together since Roy and LMA were both going to be max players. Somehow he avoided that. That said, Aldridge is clearly a great young power forward who continued to build on his game. He’s 24 years old and his game is still growing.

Apparently Aldridge isn't all that good. Did you know Love and Tyrus Thomas are also better?
But slowly things happen that they cannot help and the Blazers Fellowship of the Ring begins to break apart
