[The following is an official report of CTC, Inc. - Cablinasian]
The Cablinasian Technology Center has learned that the NBA season starts today. We gather that it's a pretty big deal. We advise against venturing out into the main page... now that there is no chance that Travis Outlaw leaves town via a bartering transaction, there will be some spare pitchforks laying around for the riffraff. Proceed at your own discretion.
There is a more pressing issue, though; according to our research, many people read the JD, reading about other people's lives, and.... lurk. The true advantage of the junk drawer is shown in the following graph.
As you can see, it's a pretty foolish decision not to join in.
To give a general idea of how well "bedging" correlates to coolness:
The CTC is aware that many Blazersedge Junk Drawer contributors have been excluded in this rough sketch. Our apologies; we were only able to list a number of recent contributors before space become too cramped to continue.
The CTC would like to extend the formal invitation for all JD lurkers to come in and introduce themselves.

Yeah, got held up
My work meeting turned into HEY LET’S GO HAVE FUN thing.
I even went into a bathroom with my new phone and tried to go onto Blazers Edge and say DON’T WAIT FOR ME, because I remembered Maggy saying he’d pause the draft for me if I wasn’t there yet, and I knew I wouldn’t be home until after 8pm or so…
So I could loaded Bedge on my new phone, but couldn’t log in, and the junk drawer was too big to load so I kept trying to log in and was gonna post in all caps START THE DRAFT WITHOUT ME in AK’s prediction thread… but, again, it wouldn’t let me log in.
I’m sorry dudes, I wish I coulda’ been there. I wouldn’t have ended up with Larry Hughes or Iverson, for one.
But hey, KG, Granger, ain’t all bad.

I'm not a big tomatoes fan
but I love bruschetta, salsa, etc. I can’t just eat a whole tomato, or have them on sandwiches/hamburgers. And tomato soup is gross. I like onions though.
I didn't like whole tomatoes growing up, I don't think I had a tomato by itself until I was in my mid-twenties,
but like so many other things I have lost a lot of the reasons I didn’t like stuff when I was younger. I started thinking about all the things I love that have tomatoes in it, but to be honest it wasn’t until I tasted a ripe home-grown tomato that I really started liking them. It is nearly impossible to get a good tasting tomato at the grocery store, if you can get one at the farmer’s market or better yet grow your own, it’s like a completely different thing. The store ones just slime up your sammie/burger and don’t add a lot of flavor.

Ducks have a tough road right now. USC and the Beavs. The Beav gave the Trojans all they could handle on Saturday.

Oh I've already become aware of how terrible I used to smell. And my tastebuds have started to come back
although I think it’s because I’m not as congested as I was when I smoked. I’m not getting preachy about it with my friends who still smoked cause that always drove me nuts about other people, but damn it’s hard sometimes to not point out how nassstttyy people smell when they smoke…

I've been going through that for awhile, I was at a wedding about a month ago, and someone was handing out really nice cigars.
I kind of wanted to test myself, so I took one. I know it’s different, but still the first thing that I had smoked in three months. I could barely keep the thing going. It just wasn’t peaking my interest. I tell myself every day how much better my life is without cigarettes, how much money I’ll save, and how much longer I’ll live, so far it’s working. Haven’t slipped once….

I think Portland could legitimately beat anyone in a 7 game series. I also think they are the toughest matchup for LA in the west. I don’t know (and don’t think) if they will be able to put it all together for a long playoff run though.

Chuck Hayes, while badly undersized at 6'6'' is an unbelievable defender who will make it difficult for Oden
Oden should still be able to manage a double double, however.
Oden played well against Hayes in the playoffs. He is freaking huge compared to Hayes.

he dominated in one stretch in one of the games in houston
brought Portland back from a 12 point deficit to a tie game.

He also had a very quite offensive performance in Game 2
But had a gigantic rebound alley-oop slam that helped seal the game along with Brandon’s three.

In much of that game, he was flat out dreadful offensively— fumbling a number of good passes— but he helped spark the decisive run with some good defense and that dunk, which tied the game.
He may have had a rebound dunk in game 2 as well, but the one in game 5 is what I remember.
He did indeed have one in Game 2
I was there, happened right in front of my section.
I don’t remember the one in Game 5. That just gives me an excuse to watch it again though! It’s been a while.

yeah looks like I'm wrong
I was mixing game 2 and game 5 in my head. My bad. Oden was instrumental in the game 5 run though, after being really bad much of the game. Oden fronted Yao and denied an entry pass, hit a couple FTs and swatted Von Wafer’s shot, which then went off Wafer and out of bounds to Portland.
the fact that we all nodded our heads and knew exactly the plays you are talking about is sad and cool at the same time.

he’s not Karl. He has no jumper and no offensive moves. He’s good at running the break and finishing, but he was an ineffective defender in college who will be good at rebounding and garbage scoring in the NBA.

he's not in Malone's league in terms of shooting or post moves
but he will be very, very good in transition and rebounding. if he adds a few moves, watch out. I see him as an allstar but not a superstar. Malone with handles would be one of the top 10 players of alltime.
with that wingspan I am not sold on him being a dominant rebounder or good defender. Wingspan that small in a post player is a killer.

he’s such a fluid athlete and amazing leaper its hard to focus on that, but it could be an issue for sure. We shall see.
I think defense is the primary attribute in a franchise big man. That’s where he has to be really good. Carlos Boozer isn’t a franchise player and I can see Blake reaching that level of goodness.

The thing is that Calderon isn't that much better at scoring. It's also easy to find scorers, and he's overrated due to his FT% which is useless to me. Though I'd be taking a gamble by hoping that he doesn't regress too much.

So I told you about the guy Gabe that I liked right? He ended up hooking up with my roommate Morgan. She didn’t tell me until I asked her about it. I found out later that it wasn’t a drunken thing either, she PURSUED him. She’s moved on now and has some other guy so whatever. Gabe’s best friend Kahiem told me that he liked me two weeks ago. It was the MOST awkward thing ever. Its better now, but it sucked for awhile because he was kind of depressed and such. Last week, this guy Chris (who has totally been facebook and text stalking me for weeks now) told me that he liked me. I had to turn him down too and then THAT was super awkward too. Now there’s another guy who likes me who I also don’t like. My question is… Where are all the guys that I’m attracted to? Did they just fall off the face of the earth? Anyways, now that everyone on Bedge know my love life as of now, let the love doctor do his work….

Gabe is a young douche in the making. He really just wants to get his pee hole wet. Sometimes, it’s fun to just have fun with fun people but as long as you are playing the same game, it will be fine…But hoping/wanting to get in a real relationship with someone who apparently is going for volume of fun (whorish behavior) would end up being short lived and disastrous for you. It is fine as long as you want to participate in the fling and prepare yourself mentally that it’s NSA. That’s typically what happens when you see a smooth outgoing player…It seems fun, but just know the game if you join the fray.
Your roommate is just a roommate. She doesn’t need to be your confidant, best friend, trusted acquaintance just because she lives with you. Basically, she’s acting in her own interest and so "whatever" is the right attitude. It’s part of learning that you can’t just trust everyone…Growing up is a bitch sometimes when you gotta deal with people who are just blatantly selfish. Especially in and around the city, but the good thing is that eventually you will find new roommates and be rewarded by your kindness.
As for all the guys you are attracted to, they are all around you. I mean, if you just listed those three, there are tons more…i.e. Cabbie, Dougall, etc…
The problem is that you are looking for a love life…Stop looking and just live/thrive. You are obviously beautiful, talented, smart and attractive…If you weren’t; God wouldn’t have produced two of you. Hahaha. Anyways, why bother with finding love when what you are really looking for is to be attracted to someone that is chasing for your attraction? Play the game!
So my advice is pretty simple: just have fun…Don’t do the woe is me when you have guys fallen for you, whether they are 6s, 7s or 9s, it’s just doesn’t matter right now…You have a lingering sense that you want "that guy" to be like the Gabe the jerk who is fun instead of the nice guy. Don’t go looking for it because you might miss finding out the real things you are attracted to…thing you never realized in the past. So you are in the City…go explore it.
You are looking for a love life when in reality, you shouldn’t even be thinking about it.
Give it 3 months and you will be back here sadly with the perfect holiday boyfriend, neglecting your fellow BEdgers yet again….

I had us pegged for 59 but the Batum injury has adjusted my expectations a little bit.
The Hornets are being underrated. Chris Paul Cares. and wins games.
The Jazz will be a chemistry mess. If Boozer is out or traded, their frontcourt becomes pretty bare at the backups.
The Spurs are awesome.
The Mavs will start slow but finish the season strong in sixth.
The Suns will win a whole bunch of regular season games. Nash-Amare-Hill-Clark-Barbosa-Frye still gets it done in the regular season.
The Nugs will miss J.R. for the first bit and could fall apart with any injury in their main rotation.

Don’t confuse me with him. He had The Roybot but then people mixed us up so he changed it.
Ok, I see how it can be confusing.
Starvin Marvin used to be named Dirty Socks. Before that, he was named The Roybot, which got him confused with Roybot, so he changed his name.
Roybot is a female poster, and Starvin Marvin is a tender young boy, and neither use any other accounts now.
And the reason he changed his name to Starvin Marvin
Is because, in a fit of silliness, he started spamming the word “rec” over and over with his Dirty Socks account, and the website itself automatically banned the account because they thought he was a spammer.

I have never met another Blazers Edger in person
Some of us email outside of here, talk in g-chat, etc.
Others have met many of the members, gone to Blazers Edge nights, gone bowling with each other, played basketball, and Tinfoil met his wife on Blazers Edge. She used to post under the name Hisblazergrrl.

Ahh, hadn't read it yet.
I can’t predict what Houston will do. I think they’ll be solidly mediocre, which will be an accomplishment for how they look on paper.
And their offense will be UGH-LEE. No playmakers anywhere, no one to play through. Maybe someone steps up or Brooks becomes more of a PG, but I dunno.
seriously. Who creates offense on that team? I love that they are all efficient but Brooks is an inefficient scoring guard and Scola is not a primary option. They will be great defensively, rebound well, and be… solidly mediocre, right on.

What use would New York have for Tracy McGrady? That doesn't make sense.
Regarding Tracy McGrady, I could see a trade of McGrady to the Milwauke Bucks for Michael Redd and Kurt Thomas. While Redd doesn’t add much with his passing or defense, he’d provide the Houston Rockets with a much-needed high-usage, albeit efficient scorer on the wing.

Scola and Brooks are good offensive players though, and we’ll find out what Ariza can do.
However, they will look to run and transition defense has often been a Blazer weakness.
I can't picture them running...
They had less fastbreak points than us, didn’t they?
I know that Yao slows anyone way down, but he isn’t in the game all game and they’ve never been a good running team without him.
BUT, they are going to be very good defensively and tough to beat. If they are smothering you defensively, it may not matter that their best offensive player is Scola.
The loss of Nic in this game wont make much difference
Which high powered scorer is he going to shut down? In other matchups we will miss him a lot more.

Hopefully Oden’s improved defense, combined with better and more experienced team defense, compensates for losing our best perimeter defender.
I don’t konw that their team is built to run. Who is athletic there? Landry, Brooks, Lowry, Ariza?

Lowry, Brooks and Ariza might all be faster than any Blazer.
Look, I think its a huge edge to Portland on talent like evereyone, but with what Morey has done to emphasize defense and unearth undervalued players, and with a great coach like Adelman, I just think this team merits a more extensive preview than “Get the ball to Greg and we’ll dominate.”

just a really poor preview. doens’t talk about what Houston will do in Yao’s absence. Misses the mark on a couple of Houston’s players. Just takes them lightly and doesn’t give the respect a Darryl Morey/Rick Adelman/excellent defense team deserves.

I’ve mainly applied to research assistant positions at OHSU, but it takes forever for the lab leaders to even reply. Unfortunately they only list their mailing and email addresses so I can’t call them up. Though I might have an in for a lab assistant position that will be opening soon. I have a friend working in the department and he gave me a heads up.
