NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This is a bummer. Fortunately, it happens at a position where the Blazers at least have a decent option, but if he’s out for a long time it costs us a couple games.

I dunno about 4. After thinking about it, I'll say it costs us 2.

KP2 says he was worth 1.5 WARP last year. I think he’d have been up closer to 2-2.5 this year. I think Martell and Outlaw are more or less replacement level at the 3 (Outlaw is above replacement level at the 4 but not the 3 IMO). So I’ll say it costs us 2 wins, possibly 3.

Well that's sucky

But at least we can plug in Martell, Rudy and Travis. Outscore the opposition!

What is it with

Our SFs getting hurt, geeze. Its apparently Batum’s turn this year.

This is why I've been saying we need to trade both Batum and Rudy before the Olympics

That is right in the middle of our window and they’ll be useless that year.

This Sucks....

Well now that we have 2 at the small foward position im guessing…. Martell will start outlaw behind him and then Juwan behind LMA right? Hope Nic recovers fast.

by Iwvelez on Oct 26, 2009 12:12 PM PDT reply actions

likely go to a 9 man rotation

just like last year. Outlaw will play the primary minutes at both the 3 and 4, and this will open up more time for 3-guard lineups as well.

That said, this is bad. Nic is by far and away our best (only?) perimeter defender. Second guessing will run rampant, but it’s looking like maybe we should have done the surgery a month ago.

How did you guys win that?

Very disappointing news

Batum was looking to really pick things up this year.

It does mean Outlaw can play his minutes where he belongs, at the 3, and we can showcase him for a potential trade. Howard now gets to play as the back-u 4, which should help stabilize the second unit. It may also mean that we actually get to see Cunningham in some games.

I’m just concerned that Webster hasn’t looked great in the pre-season and we’ll be missing a huge part of our defense. Let’s hope Webster really can get up to speed and play better D this year.

This ends the possibility of an Outlaw for a backup PF/C trade.

It also means the Blazers will have a tougher decision when Outlaw becomes a free agent this summer.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
