Finding a new hobby
After reading several discussion threads, I can't help but think there are a ton of fans that need to find new hobbies. Not that I'm wanting them to stop follow the Blazers or to leave BE, but It sounds like people are ready to give up on the whole team because the organization isn't doing things the way they see fit. I love how Mr. Fan sitting behind his computer knows how to: A. Run a business, B. Manage a top caliber team, and C. Coach that team better than the paid professionals, who, by the way, are in the closed practices seeing every player every day, and talking to the players themselves in genuine conversations (not just press conferences and interviews). I'm also flabbergasted at the fans who know how our players feel, better than the players themselves. Go Find a Hobby!
It is tough to survive the offseason when you team is at the cusp of the next level. It makes it very hard when the fan base is used to seeing Pritchard work magic with several highly intense moves each offseason, and now the team can now stand relatively still. We as fans start frothing at the mouth looking for any new news while simulating seasons NBA 2K10, (or modified rosters of 2K9).
My Point is this – What do/can fans do in the offseason to cope with the lack of NBA busyness? Fishing? Working? Origami? Help fellow BEdgers out, what works for you?

Yeah! And you know what else?
Politics. I’m sick of people offering opinions about politics. Especially healthcare!! I mean, come on—the doctors and the insurance executives see this stuff every day and they know their business. The senators are in the closed door meetings with those same industry experts every day. We should listen to them and do what they say. I don’t give a crap what Joe Public has to say about it. He should go fishing.
And movies. I can’t STAND it when people think they can get on a website and offer opinions about movies. Or books!! For crying out loud, people are going on-line and offering all kinds of opinions about BOOKS. They read one book… ONE… and they think that they can offer an opinion about it. Have they taken BAs in English Literature? Have they spoken with the author? Or even the publisher? Are they members of Publishers Weekly or Kirkus Reviews? I think not. They should read what they’re told and then go out and throw a frisbee with their dog. No one wants to hear what they have to say.
And don’t get me started on parenting. Or education. If I have to listen to one more parent blather on about their uninformed opinions on teaching math, phonics, the necessity of teach geography, intelligent design, or whether or not to spank, I think I’m going to throw up. You know who we ought to listen to? Child psychologists with a psych degree and teachers with an AA degree from their local community college. Everyone else ought to keep their mouth shut. Just because they spawned a child doesn’t give them the right to have an opinion. Now go shopping.
And finally, along with basketball analysis, boy oh boy do we need to shut the lid on any Tom, Dick, and Harry offering their “expertise” on global warming. Did you dig out the ice cores? Did you program the computer weather models? Are you Al Gore? I don’t think so. Just let the UN International Climate Panel gather the evidence, thank you very much, and you just wait for your orders on what to drive. In the meantime, go buy an SUV. On loan.
You’re absolutely right: this nation would be a far, far better place if folks would just stick to those things that they know about.

LOL
Nice. Point taken.
I am all about people having opinions. I just seem to have read threads where the poster seems more upset about the player loosing playing time than the acual player did.
We went like this, he went like that. I say to Hollywood: Where'd he go? Hollywood says: where'd who go?

I'll give you that...
… I get very irritated about sensationalism and the yellow press that creates stories out of nothing. (Canzano, I’m thinking of you, you dirty rat.)
It was late last night and I was irritated that I had got done doing actual work and was “rewarding” myself by catching up on some Blazer gossip. I sort of regard this site as a virtual “barber shop” where I can just talk about a sport and team I love. I felt (rightly or wrongly) you were criticizing me for my choice of guilty pleasures.
Sorry if I overreacted.

I think some of it
is tongue in cheek humor gone wrong, some legitimate concerns over roster construction and the rotation, and your general pre-season angst. All I know is if the Blazers start 1-3, KP and Nate should probably rent a bunker, because this place will get ugly :)

I like baseball
so the summer isn’t so empty of sports entertainment for me. I also have zero interest in fantasy sports, so the assemblage of perfect lineups while I trade everyone and their dog has passed me by.
I’m a fatalist in that I accept the personnel moves of the Blazers as immutable. They do what they do. I never thought Sebastian Telfair was a good idea, but as long as he was here I wished him well.
The repetition of the same rant over and over (trade Outlaw! trade Blake!) is the most boring feature of this site.
I’d rather think about my Netflix queue.
