Dave, this is how you post information after the jump

Star-divide

it's not difficult and should be utilized when posting HUGE posts by non site admin. who write about eastern conference teams LeBron , especially when the HUGE post by non site admin is posted directly ontop of the previous nights game recap( which none of us saw so we 'll undoubtedly want to read about it). I read alot of blazersedge on my phone and hate to scroll through 50 paragraphs about teams we'll play 2 times each this season.

you know I love this site. But seriously, use the jump

Thank you

im in a mood this morning

i read the game recaps first thing and having to scroll through never ending season previews, for another division, another conference, is really annoying.

I suppose Bulls fans would write less fanposts and comments if Del Negro decided to start Lindsey Hunter over Rose...

…than Blazers fans have theorized over who and why should start. They would just call the coach stupid and be done with it.

i do read them and saw it.

ultimately we are accountable in different ways than some other sites because i am with the team on a regular basis. for that reason anything i post i prefer if at all possible to do it under my own name.

also i hate editors and don’t want to edit other people’s work. often with the fanshots the description used is not the one i would prefer.

for those reasons i sometimes duplicate the content.

hope that makes sense.

i just wish complaints about the site were made via official, private channels rather than expressed in a forum like this.

thanks.

Matt on Blogabull makes his editorial comments pretty clear when moving things to the front page. Saves himself some work, and he is strict about keeping things in one place. And isn't he kinda like your boss as the manager of basketball blogs on SBN:)

[From the fanshots. Dr. Del Negro says it’s an unusual ankle injury and it’s possible Rose will miss the opener. Dr. Rose (someone else took his MCAT) says there’s no way he’ll miss the game.

Either way, it’s looking like Rose will be missing nearly the entire preseason, which isn’t a good thing for a team supposedly banking on continuity and camaraderie over talent. -ed.]

i’ve tried that in the past. it’s more work and the end product is more confusing than it needs to be. realize that a huge portion of our readers are not active commenters and simply want quick, easy, access to content. we are balancing a number of needs and generally the best solution in that case is the simplest.

again, this should be handled case by case depending on a site’s structure and its needs. to my knowledge matt does not cover the team in person.

You are right to do it that way. Keep it clear what YOU are saying, since YOU will have to deal with it when it comes to the team and your relationships with them.

Ya can’t expect busy people to parse who is saying what on an online forum.

The only issue I had with it was that it

kinda haulted the conversation going on it the fanshot. After Ben.’s comment here I sent Ben an email suggesting that maybe he put up a post with his own words, and then link to the fanshot or something like that.

Really nit-picky I know, and I didn’t intend for it to go this far. Admittedly, I should have emailed it to Ben, instead of posting it in here. I don’t know, maybe I am not thinking of all the different nuances.

You can take an existing Fanshot, and also have it appear on the main page (like a link or alias). Then existing discussion can continue, and people aren’t commenting in two different places on the same topic. You can also edit a remark that you promoted it to the front page, etc. The Fanshot will still be in the Fanshots, but also on the main page.

Ben said he doesn’t want to do that because that might mix up editorial statements with fan content that he isn’t responsible for. Other editors that are also respected writers like Matt of Blogabull or Ziller of Sactown Royalty/FanHouse/FreeDarko or the guys at Third Quarter Collapse who are also attending team functions do it. Different approaches with different benefits.

by Norsktroll on Oct 23, 2009 12:59 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I get how that part works

I agree with Ben, since he has such special rare access, that keeping his name separated from fan-produced content to avoid confusion by team officials is important.

Ben likely has to defend himself for his own work, having to do it for other’s wouldn’t be fun. Maybe nothing has happened like that yet, but it will eventually.

I get why the other guys do it more, but yeah… different situations, different approaches.

KP hit the jackpot in that very weak draft. Unbelievable that you could find your franchise foundation in that one.

The only other major stars are Rondo, second round pick Millsap, and to some extent Bargnani, Thomas, Gay, and maybe Foye and Powe. The rest is forgettable (sorry Sergio and Joel Freeland, but you’re not a franchise cornerstone).

big time pet peeves of mine

A) When you are watching TV/playing video games and people WALK RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE TV

B) At the grocery store, people who either 1) stop and chat or 2) check their list and hold up a whole line of shopping carts behind them and create a traffic jam in an aisle

C) people who stop and talk RIGHT ON THE SIDEWALK and block pedestrian traffic

all 3 of those annoy me so much

Hmmmm....

I guess I have a different opinion. To me, the childish antics (and huge insecurities) emanated from his younger team mate.

That said, the tour in 2010 should be freaking awesome. Contador was declared a free agent by the UCI today…and if he signs with either Caisse or the argyle lads of Garmin…..either will be one freaking powerhouse of a team.

Two huge egos, one spot on the top of the podium. Fireworks for sure!

by antediluvian on Oct 23, 2009 5:26 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

that is not true at all

Armstrong instigated every thing

putting his riders into the work when there was a split on a windy day (totally unnecessary after he had already been soundly beat by contador in the opening TT, and a waste of energy for valuable workers such as Popoyvych)

Contador rode to protect Armstrong in one of the late mountain stages on a headwind climb. The roles should have been reversed here to protect, who at this point should have been the undisputed leader, Contador, as he had shown his superiority in both ITTs and climbs.

Some will point out that Contador broke tactics on when he dropped Armstrong on an early mountain stage, but that was total posturing by Armstrong PR machine. Countering a move by a dangerous rival like Schleck is called bike racing, not breaking tactics.

I’ll leave it with this, whenever Armstrong had a teammate who challenged him he was gone from Postal/Discovery. It was extremely hypocritical for Armstrong to challenge someone who should have been the undisputed leader of Astana.

In the US the story line has been that Contador stood in the way of Armstrong’s 8th victory, but the truth of it is that Armstrong wouldnt have even finished on the podium without Contador’s protection in the final days.

Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

by jonestr on Oct 23, 2009 6:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Oh come on....

Saying Armstrong did anything wrong regarding the windy split was ridiculous….

Listening to Paul and Phil it was EXTREMELY clear that a split was likely to happen. Contador SHOULD have been up front. It’s not up to someone else to tell him that. Lance did not cause that split in any way, shape or form. He simply benefited from knowing what was likely to happen.

And it what way should Contador have been the undisputed leader? He’d won 3 grand tours….the other guy had won 7.

I don’t think Contador broke ranks when he dropped Armstrong….it was the smart thing to do.

But Contador has an issue with quality teammates. When he won the tour in 2007, he had big issues with Levi coming in 3rd. He was pissed the Levi won the final time trial and didn’t just ride a relaxed pace.

I have no problem with people who don’t like Armstrong…..big Tex has a big ego….all champs do. But let’s not play the victim card for Contador. He is anything but. He has benefited TREMENDOUSLY from the knowledge that Bruyneel gained and passed on from the Armstrong years. And IMHO he’s HUGELY insecure.

I STILL think next year will be a wildly entertaining tour.

Bayless/Outlaw

Along with the issues about how to handle Batum/Webster and how does Miller respond to coming off the bench, it isn’t sooo far fetched to think that Nate is coming to a point where he can’t reach the players as easily as he used to.

If this happens, it woudn’t be the first time that it has happened to a fine coach, nor will it be the last.

by tingeyga on Oct 23, 2009 2:38 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Trout won't go against Roy

And Quick had good stuff about Batum and Nate’s relationship, and how much they like each other in past “Behind the Green Door” locker room features.

If Batum plays 15 minutes it could get icy, but he’s still just a French kid.

No one with any real pull on the team will cause any problems.

by Mortimer on Oct 23, 2009 2:41 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

And that's the thing

You can’t expect EVERYONE to be happy.

You do want your core and most important players to be happy.

I do not see Roy, LMA, Oden, Joel, Blake, Batum, Rudy being unhappy, with Rudy having the highest chance since he wants to be more of a star.

by Mortimer on Oct 23, 2009 2:44 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Bayless won't be happy

Trout neither, but even if they are fuming mad and quit on the team it doesn’t matter.

by Mortimer on Oct 23, 2009 2:44 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Is this Timbo or Mortimer?

I can see it both ways, the Simmons viewpoint where the Blazers don’t make the next step because there is some issues between the players and coaches that have arisen due to the team having success and the Mor-timbo-mer view that because the Roy/LMA/Oden core is on board with Nate that everything else is noise.

by tingeyga on Oct 23, 2009 2:50 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Anything could happen

Yeah, he played a Roy-ish role on the national team, getting the ball in isolations in crunch time and taking his man off the dribble when driving. Not nearly at that efficiency, but he has the handles and game instincts to be more than a catch-and-shoot player and he knows that very well. He won’t demand Roy’s touches, but I could very well see him ask for a role like Bell or Diaw played for the Suns back in the day.

3 posts per week minimum. The site is in disarray since the managing editor has gone into hiding during the offseason for undisclosed reasons. The replacement (brother of the editor of the Rockets blog) brought in by SBN when they realized viewers and contribution numbers where dropping rapidly didn’t exactly receive a warm welcome from readers who unloaded their frustration on him for lack of content. Then he made the mistake of going on vacation for a week with telling SBN but not the readers of the site who started making their own game day threads for pre-season. And Marie declined to become editor when asked by SBN. It’s a hot mess at the moment.

Probably. Cowell & Co. have a lot of dumb but vaguely entertaining ideas.

Just funny how some ideas spread like wildfire and others never catch on – in both directions. “Millionaire” remained much more popular e.g. in Scandinavia, Germany, Austria than in the US. But nobody cared for watching people in a fake survival situation where you know the crew gets catering :)

by Norsktroll on Oct 23, 2009 1:09 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Actually, no.

It first aired on Swedish Television in 1997 as Expedition: Robinson. It was, however, produced by a British chap, Charlie Parsons.

It moved to the US in 2000 (produced by Mark Burnett, who had previously produced the Eco Challenge race series and TV shows), became a huge hit, and moved to the UK in 2001.

I haven't had the same luck in my league.

I just traded Igoudala, Camby and Salmons for B.Roy and Amare Stoudemire.

I am the law!

by LaColin on Oct 23, 2009 1:14 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

The way I see it;

Neither Camby nor Salmons will be able to repeat their numbers from last year (Camby is old and always hurt and Salmons is on a new team with established players at his position), while Amare is returning from injury and should return to form with the returning uptempo offense.

Igoudala should be better though, with Andre Miller gone.

I am the law!

by LaColin on Oct 23, 2009 1:26 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree

Salmons spent the first 2/3rds being the best player on a bad team and Kevin Martin was hurt most of the year, so it was Salmons or nuthin’ for the Kings. And then he joined a Bulls team with Deng being hurt.

I think he’ll still be good, but not as good as last season. Good time to sell high.

Camby gets hurt so often, and may see his numbers get cut into because of Blake, OR because of age. Sold high there too.

Amare will at least put up a ton of numbers, and Roy will be Roy. Iggy is the price ya paid to get Amare AND Roy. I think it could be good… as long as you aren’t hurting for steals.

Ann won’t like this, but I also fake cover my mouth when I sneeze. Instead I bend over towards the ground and make it look like I’m covering my mouth, but instead I’m just sneezing towards the ground. Outside, I just turn and shoot it away from anyone I’m near. Sometimes I find stuff on my shoes.

by tominhawaii on Oct 23, 2009 1:38 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

if I cover up a sneeze, it's with my elbow.

i never got the point of sneezing in to your hands. why would I want to blow snot all over my hands? i don’t even like sneezing in my elbow but if i’ve got no other place to direct it, i gotta do what i gotta do.

by DrivetheLane on Oct 23, 2009 2:12 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

I do that in crowded situations.

Laminar flow is great for sneezing. You just bend over so your

head is below the table surfaces and let go. All the spume goes down through the holes in the floor. Problem solved.

They both happend to me recently

I pulled change out of my clean pants and boomchakalaka, there was a pube in the change. Then a while ago, I smelled fart and my dog was too far away to blame him.

No timetable will be set until after the procedure

Reportedly it’s arthroscopic to clean out the left knee from bone spurs or something like that, but you can expect at least a month.

Remember when they were doing bad to start the year?

Until they got Korver, who gave them the other shooter they needed?

Yeah…

Teams are going to collapse the paint and dare Deron to shoot jumpers.
