Brandon at PG?
Quick has said several times over the last few years that he thought Brandon would be this team's PG of the future. If Brandon struggles playing without the ball in his hands, why not just make him the PG?
Maybe Blake v. Miller is a false dichotomy. A line up of Roy, Batum, Rudy/Webster, LA, and Oden might be out most effective line up. I know this is never going to happen, but what do you guys think? Don't Rudy and Roy have enough passing skills to play PG by committee?

bad use of Roy's talents
one thing you have to remember is that a shift to PG sounds easy enough, but that’s a huge swtich
playing PG takes a lot more energy offensively, and if we play the lineup you suggested who is going to chase around the Chris Pauls and Deron Williams of the league? Brandon? That causes him to expend more energy on defense too.
We need him to score and make plays, but he doesn’t have to be a PG to do that. Trust me, Andre Miller ia a great PG and should be the guy running the show

Batum
(that’s assuming Webster starts at the 3 and guards the opposing SF)
I speculated last week that Nic could become a “point forward” in years to come, if he continues to develop his ball-handling and passing skills. His idol is Pippen, and Roy could become his “Jordan”
So…maybe the Blazer’s “future PG” is already on the current roster, hidden in plain view?

I say . . .
Put a long defender on the quicker pg’s in the league. Maybe Batum. No one can stay in front of a guy like Chris Paul, not even someone as athletic as Bayless, but those quicker pg’s are often better defended buy someone like Batum or Trevor Ariza, for example.

It's possible, but Brandon has repeatedly said he doesn't want to have to guard PG's for long stretches of the game.
I could see him playing next to Bayless soon, or some other scoring / undersized 2 who can dribble and shoot. But not playing next to another natural 2 guard.

Used to dream of this but not anymore...
… Mostly because I never see Roy do anything but jog up the court.
Roy as PG would mean the shot clock would be at 16-18 before the plays actually started. But if he committed to running and defense? Yeah… I think he has the tools to be a pretty good PG.

Brandon has said he can run the offense but needs a quick guard to defend PGs and bring the ball up
That defender must also hit the three for it to work.
Lots to be determined as the season goes along this year.

I think a Rudy/Roy/Batum lineup would work pretty well
Between the 3 of them they have good amounts of ball-handling, passing, shooting, and defense.
I don’t think the lineup with Roy/Webster/Batum would work as well. Webster’s ball-handling and passing are already pretty poor for an NBA SG, so I don’t think he could adopt a co-PG role the way Rudy could. Additionally, I think Rudy is more suited to guarding PGs than Webster (Webster is better for bigger guards and SFs).

If Batum guards the PG
that means Rudy or Roy would have to guard the SF…and depending on the size of the SF, that’s not a good idea
Martell has the size to guard SFs, but Rudy/Roy can only guard PGs (like Blake) who are no threat to penetrate
It will be interesting to see how Nic’s body develops. Will he remain a waif-like skinny-bones of a perimeter defender of any and all penetrators, like Tayshaun Prince? Or will he enjoy his mom’s french cooking and beef up to 220 lbs and remain a SF-only post defender? Time will tell

Batum would only guard the PG in cases where the PG is significantly better than the SG and SF
In which case guarding the SF shouldn’t be a big problem (since it won’t be an elite offensive player anyway). Most PGs would be guarded by Rudy.
