Monday Practice Report

In the wake of last night's physical contest with Denver, a bunch of Blazers were sitting out practice with various ailments.

  • Rudy Fernandez continues to suffer from back spasms.  He was in the gym, dressed in workout clothes but not participating in post-practice shooting drills.  No update on his timeline.  It's looking more and more likely that he will sit out the rest of the pre-season.
  • Joel Przybilla was also suffering from back spasms.  He did not practice today. He is listed as day-to-day
  • Greg Oden is suffering from what the team called a "left abductor contusion," which is an inner thigh injury.  GO was not in any noticeable pain after the game last night and didn't seem to be favoring his leg.   GO was receiving maintenance today and did not practice.  He is listed as day-to-day. [Update: Smith says he saw Greg with a slight limp today]
  • Jerryd Bayless didn't practice because of an ankle sprain. He was in the gym, wearing his capri pants again, laughing and joking with his fellow point guards.
  • LaMarcus Aldridge was suffering from a minor knee injury that kept him out of last night's game.  Today he practiced, wearing a pad on his right knee and a leg sleee on his left calf.  He was in good spirits and said emphatically that he will play tomorrow night against Utah.
  • I am also listed as day-to-day with flu-like symptoms.  Look for the Full Court Press tomorrow morning. Next person to crack a swine flu joke gets banned.
In case you ever wondered what a Blazers practice basketball looked like, here's a picture.

actually ben

abductors of the hip are on the outer thigh.

adductors are inner thigh.

:)

I've tried for quite some time to come up with an epic signature. I now realize that I don't post frequently enough for it to really matter.

I saw him start limping in the game last night

this was before the outburst though…for what it’s worth

Yeah

and wasn’t I embarrassed years ago when I mentioned “abductors” to my friend who was studying physical therapy. I stood very corrected … and red-faced. But now I know: “adductors”.

Sorry you are sick Ben ...

… PLEASE STAY WELL AWAY FROM OUR TEAM! Go interview Houston and Denver please.

That is a lot of injuries

I hope this is not a sign of what is to come. =^/

LMA had a "leg sleee"?

Sure you didn’t mean “sleeve”?

lol

Need to have a Rockstar or find some milk thistle supplements to cure your “flu”, Ben. :D

Wow Ben, you got hit with the flu again?

Sorry dude. In the JD, we’re beginning to think it spreads via BE postings, the way it’s hitting in Portland.

Good luck. Lots of liquids with electrolytes. And I second the “stay away from the players” thing. :)

Get better Ben.

I am fighting this awful disease for 2 weeks now. Don’t think your OK until your body is 100%. I had a relapse and it came back.

Back spams?

What’s up with all the back spasm stuff? How is it that Rudy can play competative ball all summer but then when his real job starts he has back spasms. Is this code for “I want more playing time”?

by Flapbreaker on Oct 20, 2009 8:04 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

You got it backwards

it’s code for " an injury that is severe enough to keep him from playing, that no one will question when he plays at the start of the season."
