Warriors could have had Prince for Jackson?
Well, maybe an Outlaw/Blake for Prince trade isn't so implausible?

I would do it if only for a future trade.
I think Batum will be a player of his caliber or better by next season. Think Scottie Pippen.

easy on the Pippen comparison
Scottie was one of the 50 greatest NBA players of all time
Batum is good, and defensively could end up being similar to Pippen, but his offense has a LONG way to go.
He doesn’t have to be as good as Scottie to be a great player and contributor for us.

Got it...
but my personal opinion is that Batum has the potential to be much better than Prince. He has tremendous upside (that’s what she said).

Key word: "potential"
Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Rudy, Batum, Outlaw, Webster, Bayless, Blake, Miller, Joel... Holy crap!

potential usually means suck
as in they suck right now, but potentially they could be good…

I'd give batum or rudy plus more for prince
batum could be pretty good, but prince is an all star and somebody who can really make us a legit team. maybe detroit will suck and decide to get rid of the rest of the people from the championship team

I wouldn't give either of them for Prince
Both of them will likely be better than Prince in the near future.

I seriously doubt Rudy will ever be better than Prince.

Rudy is already a better offensive player than Prince

Nope.
Prince is a much more complete offensive player, not even close really.

Rudy scores more points while taking fewer shots
He is also much more effective at spreading out the defense with 3-point shooting. They get about the same number of assists (or at least they did last year, with Rudy’s increased ball-handling role this year he should get more).
How exactly is Prince supposed to be better?
by trk on Oct 17, 2009 2:31 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rudy couldn't dribble around cones.
He has no mid range game to speak of and his strength and athleticism stop him going around people on drives regularly. He gets points off open threes, alley oops and open layups.

points off of oops and layups count just as much as mid-range jump shots.
And, if I remember the rules right, open threes count for one more than a mid-range jump shot.
I don’t care if Prince scores in a way that’s more aesthetically pleasing to you, efficiency stats don’t lie. Prince and Rudy both had usage rates around 18 last year, so it appears that both players were incorporated into their offenses approximately equally, too.

Would you agree that defensive pressure affects a lot of statistics across the board? I'd bet that Tayshaun faces a lot more defensive attention.
Since we’re on the topic, Rudy is a poor defender while Prince is a versatile, above average defender.

Efficiency stats do lie.
Being able to create your own shot (and draw fouls) is very important, otherwise Kevin Martin would be better than Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Brandon Roy.
Rudy will never be as good as Batum, mostly because of defense, but I doubt his offense will be as effective either. He’s already 24, so he probably won’t be making huge leaps in his game anytime soon.

Kevin Martin draws more fouls than Roy
He can certainly create his own shot. Your example isn’t helping you make your point.
by trk on Oct 17, 2009 6:47 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Then I guess he's better than Roy.
Martin is a catch a shoot player, he does draws fouls and he’s a very good scorer. I still think he’s an example where efficiency stats lie. He scores tons of points “efficiently” but he doesn’t make his teammates better. I have a hard time believing the Blazers would be better offensively if you switched Martin with Roy, regardless of his true shooting percentage or points per possession.

Prince is much better than Jackson
“Sign O’ the Times” beats that way overrated “Thriller” easily.

Jackson is really good.
Blake/Outlaw not so much.

Jackon isn't what this team needs. Takes more questionable shots than Travis.

Jackson has consistently been the better, smarter, offensive player. That’s not the issue though, Jackson is a great defender and handles and passes the ball extremely well. If the Blazers still want a point forward, then they can get one BETTER than Turkoglu for almost nothing. Blake would be redundant since Jackson is better defender and just as capable of playing next to Roy.
He had an assist percentage of 21.6 last season, which is better than Roy or Turkoglu, and certainly better than Outlaw’s measly 7.4.
If the Blazers want to win a championship then they need to start taking some risks. I wouldn’t consider trading Outlaw and Blake for Jackson a huge risk, but if it worked out then I would consider the Blazers the favorites to win the championship.

bring him in
jackson is great. he doesnt have the “character” we’re looking for but he can hoop. add him to our second line and that squad could hang with any starting lineup in the league.

talkto any of his former teamates or coaches and
they say he is a class act. He really good about interacting with the fans (not like in the Palace, I mean in the good way) and getting involved in the community.
I say, bring him in

Blake/Outlaw for Prince
Would be an amazing trade for us. We could give Rudy and Brandon all the backup PG minutes basically (which they could handle fine), and give Batum a little spot 2 minutes while playing Prince at 3/4. It’d be a great move that’d improve our defense and team IQ a ton (half just by losing outlaw).
Miller/(Roy/Fernandez)
Roy/Fernandez/Batum
Prince/Webster/Batum
Aldridge/Prince/Cunningham
Oden/Pryzbilla
so Batum’s minutes are cut, that’s okay he’s still very young.
