NBATV interview with George Karl, asking if the Northwest Division is the toughest in the West...
...Portland... I don't know how they've assembled so much talent. I hope they got too much talent. There is a point where you get too much talent, and we're hoping that they just have too many guys, and there will be unhappiness throughout the team and we're praying for a negative karma...

The joke's on you, George!
Ha! From 1993-96 I (and presumably a good many other Blazers fans) prayed that something would disrupt that Sonics squad when it counted. After they’d march through the regular season and one could see Karl’s ego grow with every blowout win, we knew that in a just universe it had to happen. And it did, most infamously during the Sonics’ notorious first-round disaster vs. Denver in 1994.
Now, to be fair, we have been through the “too much talent” thing before here; this season will mark ten years since that dreaded game 7 vs. the Evil Empire, but I don’t see that happening again.
BTW George, isn’t it about time for some sort of makeover: you’ve spent twenty years redefining the word “rumpled.”

Yeah, yeah, yeah...
…I took that into consideration (I also realize that former Blazers Detlef Schrempf and Shawn Kemp) were key members of those teams. As well as a notorious former Blazers GM-at least in ’94). Too bad. It was all worth it just to see George Karl eat his words-he struck me as having (Phil) Jackson-esque levels of smugness then.
Besides, this just means Nate is that much hungrier to get a ring as a coach.

I'm also praying that they have too much
thugginess and have a meltdown.
