It's pretty freakin obvious that OUR BLAZERS NEED NEW JERSEYS!!!
I mean COME ON!
How good did our guys look last night in that fresh gear??
Last night was a test as to how the fans would react to new jerseys, and I say THEY WERE AWESOME!!!
Now I'm not saying those RIP CITY jerseys are the answer, I'm sure there are designs better than that, but the point is that THERE IS A BETTER DESIGN. They should either go with a RETRO look or CUTTING EDGE/MODERN look!
Our current jerseys BELONG to the great teams from the late 80's and 90's. Over the next ten years our new success should come with a new set of jerseys that this era's team can call its own!
With the new crop of guys, the change in culture, and the change in perception around the league, I can't under-state the awesomeness that would be if we got new jerseys THIS YEAR!!! And after seeing them last night in those clean, white, fresh RIP CITY jerseys, LETS GET IT DONE!!!

…I didn’t agree w/ him, and I don’t agree w/ you. The “subconcious flashbacks of previous bad memories” pale next to the very conscious and vivid good memories I (and many others) have of great and/or exciting Blazers teams who’ve worn what is essentially the same design since the ‘77-’78 team (sigh). I find it irritating when franchises break w/ their traditional look (I’m thinking of you, the mid-90s Detroit Pistons!).

keep the uniforms they have...
and then have nights like last night where they wear a throwback or alternate jersey. Fans can buy them and the players wear them; without changing the current uniforms….it’s what all the major professional sports leagues are doing

if
all the major professional sports leagues jumped off a bridge, would you?
I'm going to come up with the best line here ever, something really clever.

The 'Rip City' jerseys are cheesy.
The lettering is cool, but putting “Rip City” on the front is almost as embarrassing as Blaze (I vote for the hippy as a mascot). Like the other retro jersey though.

I don't think we have the best jerseys in the league, but I'm happy with them
The last thing I want is some new design. We’ve seen what “new design” looks like.

Kobe is my profile pic because of this beatdown I received.

Does anyone else see what I'm seeing?
I don’t like this design in particular, but there is something about the “new” look that is appealing. Modern font, smaller letters, I don’t know, there’s just something I like about seeing our young players in a modern style jersey. It almost feels like they had more energy out there, and it felt like you didn’t know what to expect from anyone because it was something we’ve never seen before, it was exciting.

ironically the yellow helmet green uni combo was the “throwback” uni’s the Ducks wore

Is that the game where they bust out the orange unis to complement their black ones?

No.
The people who design uniforms for professional sports produce the most hideous things that I have ever seen. I hate, hate, hate the way nba uniforms, fonts, colors, tailoring look… Hate.

Perhaps they should have blazersedge readers submit possibilities to dave
Narrow it down to about 50 and let fans vote. Take the top 10 in voting, and re-vote. Top 5 and re-vote, then final 2 have a vote. (This prevents having a great uniform watered down by having 5 similiar versions split the initial vote, which is a technique useful in helping controversial but not good candidates win simply by attracting attention. I agree that what is currently selected, like OKC, just looks AWFUL.

i love great design
but i love tradition a helluva lot more when it comes to sports. the blazers need not tinker with anything further at this point. if anything, i like the idea of going back to the lowercase blazer lettering – kind of symbolize the teams youth.

So this is a vote for going retro?

Let's get some new jerseys!
Don’t get me wrong, I like the current jerseys. But it would be pretty easy to make some small adjustments to them for improvement. Particularly something with the stripe… putting the strip in a different location and direction, or no stripe at all, would be a good place to start.

The color layout of the Rip City jerseys is sick
I just hate that they say “Rip City” on them. Putting a city’s nickname on a jersey is silly. I’d actually be in favor of a jersey design that says “TRAIL BLAZERS” on it instead of just “BLAZERS.” I don’t think we’ve ever had that.

Kind of funny, but tendentious... There have been other "Coke" logos over the years...

I had to look up tendentious
Yeah, that is true but it is also true that Coke never phased out the original type treatment. Also the GE logo has never changed.

The Lakers and Celtics have also kept close to their "classic" unis
It’s mostly the teams near the bottom that are continually trying to create a new identity with ugly uniforms. Classic is the way to go. Like Coke, you can make subtle changes to the packaging, but don’t lose the identity.

i like the current
uniform, still looks modern possibly the only thing i would consider moving is the 2 stripes and having a centred larger number instead of a smaller number on the right side. apart from that i like it

EVOLUTION
I love the way our jerseys have slowly evolved over the years. Small tweaks to the design every 7 or 10 years have gotten us from the late 70’s all the way to our current design. There is nothing wrong with modernization as long as we hold true to what has become so symbolic (two stripes + pinwheel logo).
It is probably time for a small tweak soon – the next step in the evolution. Nothing drastic, but something that clearly identifies this group as different from Sheed/Scottie/Sabonis or Drexler/Porter/ or JR/Strickland or Walton/Lucas. Those are all different eras, and we’re in another new era now.
Every team (with the exception of Cleveland currently) that has departed significantly from tradition has seemed to regret it (Houston 90’s, Pistons 90’s, Sonics 90’s). And i’m of the opinion that every team which has not continued to evolve has an outdated look (Boston, Clippers).

Bostons jerseys are the
Yankee uniforms of the nba.
Agree with everything else. Very minor alterations done carefully. Like the cursive font. Still like the # offset.

I love the current unis
Sorry, those ‘Rip City’ jerseys looked stupid every-which way. Too much going on, too wannabe hip…just not us at all. I don’t like the V-Necks that alot of teams are going with nowadays.
I think I current unis are perfect. Simple, elegant, totally Blazers.

I personally loved the white Rip City jerseys
I would settle for replacing the rip city with portland in all lowercase(to make some fans happy).
I have been a fan for decades, but I don’t think the sash is synonomous with winning, nor have I been a HUGE fan of it. Love the pinwheel. I think these new, younger players want something fresh and modern. I know I would.
If the Lakeshow and Celtics can update their uniforms to match the times, so can we.
Drop the sash. A sash is for someone who is going seat you a nice dinner out.
Land Rondo.

The best franchises aren't changes their jerseys much, if ever
L*kers, Celtics, Spurs – they’re proud of there unis. I think we should be too – if is a pretty classic design.
The lettering was tweaked (modernized) a few years ago, I think when they added silver to the color scheme.

I agree completely
I loved the rip city jerseys they wore against Phoenix; as someone else previously said, I’d be more than happy with those jerseys, but replacing the rip city with portland. The older style jerseys have served the team well, but it’s time for a new style.
