Haters keep on hatin

I get it. The city wanted Oden, a big affable center on a team full of guards and swingmen, and in an area that loved basketball and wanted a player who was likable, especially after the Jailbazers years. I get that.

But anyone who’s seen Kevin Durant play would have instantly known that he was gonna be a cold blooded killer who loves basketball, just isn’t always comfortable with media.

I hope Oden stays healthy, but his ceiling is pretty low. I’d be content with him putting up 12/11/2 for his career, and that’s sad. Durant? 25/7/4 easy for his career, and that’s taking into account his first and last years, not just his prime.

I know Portland had too many guys at the spot, but you pick the best avaialble and make it work or trade off pieces for draft picks to keep the team young over a period of time. That’s what Oklahoma City has done. Now OKC has a sick nucleus (even Harden, who I’ve seen play several times and am not impressed with. He’s good, but I can’t see him really being great) of young guys who can play together for the next half decade at least (if their contracts can match up).

Good luck Portland, but I think your time is over.

by CroRupt on Oct 14, 2009 4:50 PM PDT reply actions

who is OKC's center again? oh that's right they don't have one (Collison doesn't count - duh)

i wonder fi they guy who wrote that saw the piece on Durant’s +/- stats. I think OKC has some players, but I don’t think they’re as good as people think. Wetbrook is pretty good, and Durant can score, but I’m not big on Jeff Green or James Harden, they are good but not great. Plus, the issue with them will always be if Durant can become more than a scorer.

If they had got Blake Griffin i’d be mor worried, but right now they have nada inside….after Greg beats them a couple times this season the tune of articles like this will change

.mp3 of tonight's broadcast?

Long time reader, first post. Love you guys, by the way. 31 years old, portland native, lifetime Blazers fan.

two weeks ago i had to move to SoCal for a job and it’s killing me. no preseason tv coverage, and i can’t stream the local Ptown 95.5 broadcast because i’m out of market and the sponsorship deals with the station.

if someone could get an mp3 posted so i can hear tonight’s game in the next day or two i’d be extremely grateful to catch a bit of the early season flavor and hear The Shonz one more time! it’ll keep me tided over until i can stream the games on justin.tv soon.

Many advance thanks!

45 y.o. here, that’s started listening to Schonze in the second grade. He’s doing good….man just listening to him do that "where ever, you may be"….lots of memories….I’m getting a little sentimental. I went to a lot of games there with my late dad….they should have closed the curtains (would make it louder)…Shonze is doing great for not being behind the play by play mic forever…

Time out?

Nate must want to take every possible chance to harangue his players for this one.

Tweet from Ben
Blazers lose for 2 reasons: 1) fail to feed GO in 2nd half. 2) Barbosa went nuclear. Honorable mention: Travis Outlaw.

Free Throw shooting abysmal, 3 point shooting abysmal, defending their 3 point shots abysmal...

All of which they'll do better in

I mean Rudy didn’t even really play for one. We haven’t shot 3s at all well this pre-season, which given how important they were last year.

Oh well, it's preseason

B-Roy will get the rust off eventually. And the team will figure out that GO should get the ball all game long.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
