Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Looks like its for Oregon and Washington only. No options for people overseas or elsewhere in the US. To be expected but still disappointing.

Aren't those the only areas that face Comcast blackouts?

I live in Washington, D.C., so I can simply use NBA League Pass, because the Comcast black-out provisions don’t apply here.

by Jacksonville on Oct 13, 2009 6:38 PM PDT reply actions

and so far they're only streaming the KGW games

who on Directv and Dish can’t get the local channels?

yeah, if they're streaming KGW games, then I can just watch it on TV

I don’t have cable anymore, so I can’t get access to CSN games, which is at least like 80% of the games.

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

Miller said

they’re" working out the details" with Comcast to stream those games as well…how much do you wanna bet that they’ll be working on those details for “awhile”

Miller needs to learn to keep his mouth shut and quit talking to the press!

He’s going to become a cancer to the team!

What? Who?

Oh, … Larry Miller … Never mind.

What about the rest of Washington?
Does everyone have access to the games online?

Because of NBA broadcast requirements, the Trail Blazers are only allowed to stream the games within our broadcast territory, which includes Oregon and Southwest Washington. Fans outside of the broadcast territory are not subject to local blackouts, and thus can already access Trail Blazers games via NBA League Pass and NBA League Pass Broadband.

Am I screwed here in Seattle?

Rest of Washington probably wont be subject to blackout

therefore you can use NBA LP.

that's BS

when i was in seattle the past two years…i was subject to blackouts.

"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."

-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters at the end of the third quarter with the Hornets leading 74-59. Portland later ends up winning 97-89.

"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."

-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

I’m almost positive that Seattle will be eligible as it is a market in the blackout zone.

At least I hope. I’m in Seattle as well.

Private stream in amazing quality

I can set up a stream that’s privately shared if it is feasible for me to recoup the costs. I don’t have Comcast yet but I heard they are the only one with HD feeds of the game through Comcast SportsNet Northwest. It would cost me around $40 dollars a month for the Comcast package. In addition, I would have to purchase a “CABLECard™” tuner which is the specialized tuner required receive HD into the computer. This costs about $220. So my total costs would be $40*6 months, plus $220 for the tuner, plus $30 for Comcast installation fee, plus $75 for Comcast cancellation fee after 6 months(I have to sign a year contract and I don’t want to pay extra months for cable if I don’t get the Blazers game). The sum of all those fees is $565. I’ll cover the streaming hardware costs, and the internet bandwidth for my fellow BEdgers. I’m guessing around 15 guys willing to pay around $40 for the all the season’s games will cover it, and any extra if I get more than 15 users interested will mean I’ll probably use it to go to the actual games ;)

I have experience setting up high quality streams and have been doing so. My channels net around 35000 views a day and is noted for it’s very high quality ( http://www.justin.tv/movietimepdx ). If you guys are interested and I get enough guys willing to chip in to cover the cost, let me know. I have to gauge how many people would actually donate to this cause before I take the plunge in costs. Check out my channel to see the sample streams. To contact me about any questions or let me know if you’re interested, my e-mail is movietimepdx@gmail.com :)

As nice as that sounds...

I would rather not contribute money to an illegal enterprise ;) If you’re caught watching on justin.tv or something… you can claim ignorance… if you are paying someone to do this… uh…. no.

In fact just your post alone could get blazers/comcast/ etc looking into you. Time to change your email.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside.
