SlingBox thoughts

I was thinking about getting sling box and having my brother send set the box at his house, he has comcast. If someone was to have SlingBox is it possible to share that feed with other people?

It does work

Not sure exactly what your question is. If you hook up a slingbox to your brother’s Comcast, you can watch the blazer games on your computer. It is also possible for other people to use the slingbox on their computers, but only one person can log in and use it at any given time.

Not quite true, only one channel maybe watched at one time, but more than one computer can have it

Set one up for my mother in Yuma AZ. this year so she can watch Blazers down there but set it up so all she has to do is plug in 2 cables and she can watch on her big screen. I have 2 more sling boxes I was thinking of setting up others to a csn only tuner so others could get the games, just haven’t had the time yet.

Also

Keep in mind that the upstream bandwidth at the Slingbox host site is very important to the streaming quality. If he’s also using Comcast for cable Internet, it should be fine, though.

Private stream in amazing quality

I can set up a stream that’s privately shared if it is feasible for me to recoup the costs. I don’t have Comcast yet but I heard they are the only one with HD feeds of the game through Comcast SportsNet Northwest. It would cost me around $40 dollars a month for the Comcast package. In addition, I would have to purchase a "CABLECard™" tuner which is the specialized tuner required receive HD into the computer. This costs about $220. So my total costs would be $40*6 months, plus $220 for the tuner, plus $30 for Comcast installation fee, plus $75 for Comcast cancellation fee after 6 months(I have to sign a year contract and I don’t want to pay extra months for cable if I don’t get the Blazers game). The sum of all those fees is $565. I’ll cover the streaming hardware costs, and the internet bandwidth for my fellow BEdgers. I’m guessing around 15 guys willing to pay around $40 for the all the season’s games will cover it, and any extra if I get more than 15 users interested will mean I’ll probably use it to go to the actual games ;)

I have experience setting up high quality streams and have been doing so. My channels net around 35000 views a day and is noted for it’s very high quality ( http://www.justin.tv/movietimepdx ). If you guys are interested and I get enough guys willing to chip in to cover the cost, let me know. I have to gauge how many people would actually donate to this cause before I take the plunge in costs. Check out my channel to see the sample streams. To contact me about any questions or let me know if you’re interested, my e-mail is movietimepdx@gmail.com :)

thanks for the link...

but you might want to wait and see how the blazers.com streaming csn thing pans out. Signing up with comcast for 6 months may be more expensive than watching the rest of the season on blazers.com. Quality might not be as good but who knows? Of course, I would assume that you’re not trying to make money off of your gig.

"We're going to play the right way. It ain't about you. It's about us. We can be successful if we play together. And that's what it's about. In this league, playing hard, playing together. Your numbers shouldn't matter. If we're not winning then you can say some things. But if we do it the right way, we should win, and you still shouldn't say anything." - Nate McMillan

last I heard
see how the blazers.com streaming csn thing pans out

This wasn’t happening at all; only KGW games were going to be streamed at all.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
