1977 Trailblazers documentary - Oct 24-29 @ Clinton Street Theater

Hello everyone -

Just thought you should know that the 1977 Trailblazer documentary "FAST BREAK" will be playing here in Portland at the Clinton Street Theater later this month.

I've been working on programming this film for a couple years now, and we've finally gotten clearance to put FAST BREAK back on the big screen - in front of Portland Trailblazer fans.  If you haven't seen the film, it's truly a unique documentary....and a great slice of Portland sports history.  My hope is to get it in front of as many Trailblazers fans as possible - to celebrate the 40th year of Portland basketball and generate some good energy for our 2009/2010 team.

Best,

Greg Hamilton

PORTLAND TRAILBLAZER DOCUMENTARY "FAST BREAK" TO PLAY AT THE CLINTON STREET THEATER

In celebration of the 40th year for the Portland Trailblazers, the Clinton Street Theater and Darkroom Associates proudly present  "FAST BREAK", a rare documentary about the 1977 Portland Trailblazers - directed by filmmaker, Don Zavin.

Evoking a trippy cinema verite feel not found in most sports documentaries, FAST BREAK examines the 1977 Trailblazers in a  surprisingly personal and compelling fashion.  Inter-cutting excerpts from the 1977 playoff / championship season, the film steps outside of the basketball court, and into the everyday lives of the Trailblazers, as well as their coach Jack Ramsey.   Whether it's biking the Oregon coast with Bill Walton, hosting a kids basketball camp with Dave Twardzik, or joking with Maurice Lucas at the pool - FAST BREAK lets the players speak for themselves:  about basketball, life and playing in Portland.

in anticipation of Portland's home opener against Houston, FAST BREAK will be screened at 7pm on October 24th - 26th -- and at 7pm and 9pm on October 27th - 29th at the Clinton Street Theater.

Saturday the 26th - Oregon author Matt Love will be in attendance to play 1977 Blazer Trivia with the audience (w/ prizes), share excerpts from his book "Red Hot and Rolling: A Retrospection of the Portland Trailblazers 1976-77 Championship Season" - and participate in a Q&A.  Matt will also selling his book  - which includes a DVD copy of FAST BREAK.

Sunday the 27th - FAST BREAK Co-Director / Cinematographer Mike McLeod and Oregon author Larry Colton will be in attendance.  They will talk about the making of FAST BREAK, discuss Colton's role in the film - and the writing of IDOL TIME (a book about the 1977 Trailblazers written during the filming of FAST BREAK), and participate in a Q&A.

Thanks,

how many times has kobe lost in portland?
For the past years, my father and I have NEVER been on TV, not even close. We have such bad luck at games, we never win any of the cheap prizes (not even a chance, never come close) but our luck in the past 2 games have dramatically changed. Last time we got the game ball, this time we very creepily are in the back on national television. I'm just letting the 15 minutes of fame soak in. What will be next?

I also apologize to Martell Webster for stealing his spotlight tonight
