Trade Idea
This will probably not go over well, but not a big deal.
I really think the blazers should trade Lamarcus and outlaw for Amare Stoudemire. The reason im saying this is because i dont see lamarcus ever becoming the player he can be. All he does is shoot jumpers (well majority of the time), which hes good at. But if youre gona have a power forward like that, u might as well have the best versiion of that guy. Lamarcus is basically a lesser version of amare. Everyone harps on amares D, but on a team thats capable of winning a title and in a system that actually preaches D, i think he can become adequate. Its not like LMA is all defensive, hes just passable too.
Im not sayin he'll never get better, but if we dont see something other than the same jump shooting guy again in the first 2 months, i wouldnt say its probable he'll be taking another step any time soon. Hes only 3 years younger and is up for a new contract. With all the hype he gets he is probably asking for 12-14 mill per. undeserved. Since team salary doesnt matter anymore since roy was resigned, why not get amare for a comparable amount of money (16 this year and his new contract would prob be 16-18 a year) and have a better version of LMA while getting rid of some clutter in outlaw.
I hope LMA improves, but im just not seein it. Amare and his crazy field goal percentage and nice FT percentage would mean an automatic WCF bid and possible finals appearance regardless of how good greg is. And if greg is consistently good, thats a championship team. Obviously the same could be said with LMA this year or in a few years, but in my mind amare would be a an upgrade.
Also after having the eye surgery and thru that ridiculous recovery of 22 hours a day for 10 days of laying prone in a massage table, he claims to have a renewed appreciation for the game.
Well thats all i got.

LMA's not better when Amare's trying, but LMA consistently tries & Amare. Does. Not.

Bosh will not be available
i agree just go for bosh, but he’ll either re-sign or go where lebron goes.

I like it, but only if we don't sign Aldridge
My biggest fear going into this year is an unhappy, underperforming Aldridge. With each passing day, the prospect on an unsigned LMA becomes greater. Whether or not he deserves the money and contract he is asking for, if he does end up playing this year without an extension, it will be a disaster. Aldridge already has a fragile psyche, and not getting a contract would give him an even bigger chip on his shoulder. And with Oden becoming more of a threat offensively, Aldridge will not get as many looks on offense as he is used to. That will make him more unhappy and frustrated since he will want to put up good numbers heading into free agency.
If we can get LMA signed, then I think we should stick with him over Amare.

If LMA is unsigned
he should get a new agent. I’d wager the problem is more him asking for more than his market value because his agent is telling him he deserves it. If he weren’t so focused on “getting mine” and more on winning, it wouldn’t be such an issue. The reason I do not want A’mare or Bosh is they are both “get mine” guys.

It's a nice idea but I get the feeling you are judging LaMarcus on his mediocre pre season.
It’s way to early to give up on him. Amare is a cry baby, I want to give LaMarcus a chance, we need to extend his contract now.

Well i said give em 2 months
and im just trying to figure out in what ways LMA is better than like David West. and if were going to pay for him for his “potential”…which no one ever says what it could be because i think theyre all as hesitant as i am…why do it before he shows any of it?
right now hes a solid player, scores 17, but thats about it. and i think thats why these negotiations arent done yet because hes trying to get paid on hype rather than results.

And yet still not in Amare's league.
I think the West comparison for LMA is a good one until LMA shows he can rise above it.

LaMarcus Aldridge and David West are similar players. Neither one is truly All-Star caliber, too.
They’re both second options on good teams, but they could be third options on great teams or first options on awful teams.
When Rashard Lewis was on the Seattle SuperSonics, I said the same thing. Once Lewis went to Orlando and became a third option, it didn’t surprise me that he had a substantially higher level of team-oriented success.

Amare's stats are skewed by the system he's in
also he is the #1 option on that team,if you think he will be happy as a #2 or 3 option on a slower paced team i just think it would be disaster. We have a quality up & coming PF that has not peaked yet. KP will get him signed. Just say no to the ego that is Amare!

not yet...
LA could still be great; we already know he’s good. Amare just came off a serious eye surgery, has a horrible HORRIBLE selfish attitude, and micro fracture.
No question he was better than LA… but I’d be totally against trading for him until his eye issues are gone. I seem to remember reading somewhere that he could go blind pretty easy… by someone smacking him in the face… Not sure he’d even be worth the risk.
And I’d rather go for Bosh too.

Amare wants to be the number one option on his team.
That would not happen here since we have a guy named Brandon Roy. A’m’a’r’e will never be a Blazer.

Precisely
LMA will be RFA, which means we can match anything, so he’ll be here for at least 3 more years after this year. If we trade for Amare, he might walk next summer. How wonderful that would be.
I can tell you how to make an Excel spreadsheet that proves Portland wins 62 games this year.

trade disgruntled Andre Miller, Rudy Fernandez, & Troutlaw…
…for recently suspended Stephen Jackson, and Stephan Curry…
in the realm of possible trade scenarios, I kind of like that one!!!

Amar'e Stoudemire is lazy on defense, yes. More importantly, Stoudemire wouldn't re-sign with Portland.
Regarding Stoudemire, I keep telling myself that he belongs on the New York Knicks. I once mentioned how that’d be a good idea from not only New York’s perspective, but also that of the Phoenix Suns.
“Yeah, the only way that the New York Knicks should tie up future cap space is if Donnie Walsh could, oh, magically pry Amar’e Stoudemire away from the Phoenix Suns. Personally, I’m not a fan of Stoudemire; however, if Walsh could hypothetically obtain him for rookie big man Jordan Hill, Cuttino Mobley’s heavily insured expiring contract, Chris Hunter and Joe Crawford’s non-guaranteed deals, and $3,000,000 in cash considerations, then he should do it as a way to appease Mike D’Antoni and hopefully entice LeBron James to leave Cleveland for the Big Apple come 2010.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=klr9zs
For the Suns, the only way this trade would ever happen is if Robert Sarver demanded that Steve Kerr cut costs for this upcoming season. In this example, here’s what the Suns would save by making my abovementioned trade proposal.
1. From the trade, the Suns would cut $2,922,205 in payroll and save $2,922,205 in pending luxury tax payments.
2. By waiving both Chris Hunter and Joe Crawford, the Suns would cut $1,472,840 in payroll and save $1,472,840 in pending luxury tax payments
3. Due to Cuttino Mobley’s contract being 80% insured, the Suns would recieve a $7,600,000 check to reimburse the team’s costs.
4. In total, that’s a savings of $16,390,090 for a player in Stoudemire who’s reportedly stated that he’d like to play elsewhere after this season."
http://www.blazersedge.com/2009/8/30/1008188/more-on-the-david-lee-speculation#20484647
“Yeah, there’s also some other benefits to it.
1. Jordan Hill was a star for the Arizona Wildcats, so he’s got some local ties in Phoenix.
2. With Amar’e Stoudemire joining the Knicks, that hurts the Utah Jazz’s chances of getting a top-five or so pick from New York in the 2010 NBA Draft.
3. I’m not a fan of Hill — who I think too closely resembles Chris Wilcox and Drew Gooden — but at least trading Stoudemire for him on top of cap relief gives casual fans a reason to buy tickets."

Back to the original topic, there’s no way in hell Stoudemire will land in Portland. I like to keep it that way, too.

Amare seems to want his own marketing company and record label more than his first title
Want your own debit card, the latest rap artist, a big all-star party? Amare got you covered. He is his own marketing machine. Perfect fit for the Knicks next year.
He got mad at Suns fans when he asked what he needs to do to win a title with Phoenix and a number of people replied “play defense”.

Forget next season, Amare Stoudemire ought to be playing for the New York Knicks this very minute.
A trade of Stoudemire from the Phoenix Suns to the Knicks for a long-term replacement (i.e., Jordan Hill), financial relief (i.e., Cuttino Mobley), and waivable salary filler (i.e., Chris Hunter and Joe Crawford) would be a fair deal for all parties.

He's like a skinny Zack Randolph

by In Walks Rudy on Oct 11, 2009 7:49 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
That's extremely unfair to Amar'e Stoudemire, who's a remarkably efficient scorer on offense.
Stoudemire’s career 60.4% TS% blows Zach Randolph’s career 52.0% TS% right out of the water.
Regarding offensive efficiency, Stoudemire mirrors all-time great post scorers like Darryl Dawkins.
They’re definitely both very lazy on defense, although that comparison pretty much ends right there.

I still say this is the best trade ever for the Blazers
Batum and Pendergraph for Hansbrough
Hansbrough is a banger and he has good character, he helped find a little girls dog.
