Has anyone been watching Von Wafer lately?
Seems like he's really coming into his own. He had a game winning 3-pointer in Boston while shooting 4-6 from downtown, and is averaging 15 points a game in the last 5 games, while shooting 56% overall and 61% from 3 point range.
Did the Blazers give up on him too early? Did he just get drowned out behind Roy?
I personally liked him for the very limited amount of time we had him, unfortunately he just never got an opportunity.

he's von wafer my man
von. wafer.
he wasnt drowned out behind roy… he was drowned out behind all out guards. it’s happenstance that he’s started coming into his own. regardless, i don’t think von wafer would be the piece to put us over the top anyway :p

He certainly wasn't going to play point.
So I’d say that limits who he had to take minutes from to Roy …maybe the occasional PG who switched to SG when Roy needed a break.

He didn’t have a future in Portland

For Von Wafer to do well
he would have had to have shot himself into some games to get comfortable. We didn’t really have the time or shots to give him in bulk to get the production from him that he’s capable of.

Von is a chucker
He can shoot 7-8 for 18 points some nights and 1-7 for 3 points other nights. He just shoots. And shoots and shoots.
He may be an NBA player, but he was never going to cut it as a Blazer.

I loved that movie and haven't watched it in a while
I think I’ll rent it though. That dog in the hot tub scene cracks me up every time I think about it.

did you know?
Von Wafer has the lowest career fg percentage among active players with at least 150 attempts?

Wafer?
I never liked him after he left Nilla…

Von Wafer is a NBA player
But like others pointed out, he’s a backup. I compare him to Matt Carroll— good shooter, streaky, good enough athlete overall but not much compared to NBA perimeter players, decent size, and kept playing for teams that didn’t need his services much (Blazers with Roy, Denver with AI). Carroll found a home as a shooting role player for the Bobcats, and I bet Von Wafer will find a home somewhere too.
Maybe it’s Houston, and he’s doing what he does for them.
He could keep developing more and sticking in one place will likely help him a ton, but he’s just a Matt Carroll type. We ain’t gonna lose much sleep over losing him, but wish him all the best.

Why?
Because he was such a good fit here, or perhaps because his name makes him sound like a Bavarian prince…?
I know a little about a lot and a lot about very little.

i really dont know
but i never cried about it, i just liked him, and still dont see a reason to have not. i got it from the beginnning that we had roy and rudy was commin, so i never REALLY thought we were gonna keep him. i just thought he might be a baller, and maybe someday he will.
