It's a foregone conclusion (to me) that the Blazers will make the playoffs this year. That got me to thinking about who they might face in the first round and who I would like that team to be. My vote would be the Spurs, because that's the team KP and Nate seem to be modeling the Blazers into, and I think the Blazers would learn a lot of fine lessons about defense and professionalism.
Poll
Who would you like to see the Blazers play in the first round of the playoffs?
Lakers. You have to beat the best to be the best, and nothin' would be finer than turning Kobe into a whiner. (18 votes)
Spurs. Youth versus experience. The team we want to become. (4 votes)
Hornets. Better double the security detail. These teams don't like each other and things could get ugly fast. (43 votes)
Rockets. Adelman. Artest. Aaron. Injuries. Oden versus Yao. Houston trying desperately to get past the first round. (36 votes)
Nuggets. Also looking for the second round and expecting to get there this year. Division rival. Carmelo versus Brandon. Altitude sickness. (21 votes)
Jazz. They're used to playoff success. They might as well start getting used to losing to us. It would be great to face them if we have the home-court edge. (9 votes)
Suns. The Shaq show. Terry Porter. Nash's dazzling PG skills. Amar'e versus LaMarcu's. The last gasp of an aging veteran team. (9 votes)
Mavericks. Mark Cuban going ballistic, smack-talking our players, collecting fines and embarrassing his team. Jason Kidd recapturing his youth. Nicolas Batum hounding Dirk Nowitzki into single-digit games. (35 votes)
