Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Acording to Marca.com, Dave McMenamin published an article at the official NBA web where he says that the benches will be:

West: Pau, Chauncey Billups, Brandon Roy, Dirk Nowitzki, Shaquille O'Neal, Paul Millsap and Tony Parker.

East: Joe Johnson, Jameer Nelson, Danny Granger, Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, Devin Harris and Rashard Lewis.

So is that speculation or inside information?

When do the coaches actually vote? Or have they already voted? Are they still recounting the ballots, discerning intent based upon hanging chads?

The cowards never started
The weak died along the way
Only the strong survived
They were the Trailblazers

I don´t know. I couldn`t find the original piece.

I found last year he made this one: Who Should Be Going to New Orleans

Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16

That's very close to right. The Denver Nuggets announcer had almost the exact same list...
West: Pau, Chauncey Billups, Brandon Roy, Dirk Nowitzki, Shaquille O’Neal, Paul Millsap and Tony Parker.

Millsap is, of course, the controversial one on that list.

More speculation:

By Sam Smith from Bulls.com
So here’s who I think should be added to the teams this week.

Eastern Conference: Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson, Vince Carter, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Hedo Turkoglu (barely over Rashard Lewis) and there really isn’t anyone truly deserving. Maybe Lewis or Devin Harris. So what the heck: David Lee. He gets a double/double just about every game. Yes, role player. But there just aren’t enough East stars.

Western Conference. Dirk Nowitzki, Brandon Roy, Chauncey Billups, Carmelo Anthony, Pau Gasol, Deron Williams and Shaq.

Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16

Yeah, he just knows their names

I am sure Sam Smith does not watch west coast basketball, or much east coast basketball. That would be fine normally, but it always bugs me when people have a job that requires them to watch basketball and then talk about it, and they can’t be bothered to do the bare minimum of work to form their opinion or trade idea.

Deron is a great player, but not this year. Too many injuries. His first allstar game will have to wait.

Devin Harris has been awesome. Vince Carter is an allstar as well, but if ya had to pick ONE from the mediocre Nets, it’s Harris, easily. At least for the newness of making him an allstar.

At least Roy has become such an obvious allstar, that he is on every single list without even a question. That’s pretty cool. When you crossed over from just love from the diehards, to love from the casual observer (and I list guys like Vecsey or Smith as casual observers), that’s a good sign you’ve arrived somewhat.

I knew last year wouldn’t be Roy’s only allstar appearance, as some worried. He’s a lock for as long as we’re good.

I like the list Amlmart linked above for the fanshot

You can always argue one guy or so, but that list makes sense with players who shouldn’t miss this year like Granger, Harris, Roy, Billups. I would also like to see Terry in Phoenix who is a lock for sixth man of the year if he continues to produce like he does right now, but we will see. AI as a starter is debatable, but that’s how the fans voted. How many guys you take from Orlando and Boston and who those should be is not so easy. And at least people don’t put names like Kidd and Nash up just because they are used to them.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
