Obnoxious cleveland fans

i want to thank the staff at the rose garden tonite (sec 310) for their professional handing of unruly, drunk, obnoxious loud cleveland fans and making it a more enjoyable experience.  a couple of guys sporting #23's  were sitting in my section trashing oden lma and half the team.  i have a problem with that in the rose garden myself. they were pretty loud and looking for trouble.  i was hoping blaze would come over and shoot them with silly string or something.  we need a blazermaniac section where in such cases, you can call a number and swap tickets and surround them with our most obnoxious loud fans, i almost swapped seats with the guys next to me so i could stand up and cheer defense everytime lebron got the ball and obstruct their view.  as it was those bfans were offended and just left.  if our guys could of taken care of business on the court it probably wouldnt have been as big of a issue but it was tonite. by halftime and several beers later they progressed to dropping f-bombs and swearing.  thats where i got "offended".  there were several children nearby and i have read my season ticket handbook.  anyway the usher took care of business professionally and expediently.  the guy picked up his 2nd warning faster than GO picks up fouls and was told one more time and security would throw him out and to his credit he chilled out alittle after that.  GO BLAZERS!

There was a guy 5 rows in front of me in 331

He was standing the entire game, hat sideways, ‘popping’ his LeBron jersey, spitting chewing tobacco in a see through cup, turning around and yelling at everybody behind him whenever the Cavs made a play. I have never seen somebody try that hard to look tough. I cant really explain it, but the guy was a jackass and total tool. A guy I recognized as a season ticket holder, and pretty big dude, went over to the Cavs fan, put his hand on his shoulder, said something in his ear then walked back to his seat. As Cavs fan turned around to watch him walk away, I saw his face, pure terror. I don’t know what was said, but Cavs fan remained in his seat the entire game and didn’t say a word.

Saw them too.

We must sit pretty close together because I saw them too….right in front of me. One thing that bothered me about it was that the usher who was standing right behind them did nothing until the two guys with the white jerseys came down and had a word with them. IMO the usher should have told him to sit down and act like a gentleman long before those other two guys did. They shouldn’t have had to do anything.

Yep. The RG ushers can be pretty meek.

I was worried that the situation with the two Blazer fans would get violent before the ushers bothered to intervene. Fortunately cooler heads prevailed and that LeBron fan wasn’t going to start a fight with anyone anyway.

Ha ha ha. We were 10 feet from this jackass.

What a paper tiger. We were openly giving him the finger and calling him an a-hole to his face, and he did nothing. He also held up LeBron’s Olympic jersey for everyone to “admire.” His Blazers-fan friend was clearly embarrassed after a while. I think he felt emboldened b/c an usher (and later 2 ushers) stood just a yard or two away.

I was within earshot of the “conversation” he had with the burly season ticket holder and found out that he’s not a Cavs fan, he’s a LeBron fan, that he’s from Portland and roots for the Blazers against other teams. The burly dude said something to the effect that he should be ashamed of himself.

I’ve been to a lot of games in my life and have rarely seen someone act like a bigger jerk while appearing so completely stupid at the same time.

by Badalona Baddie on Jan 22, 2009 12:49 PM PST up reply actions

That was classic

This guy was near me too. Best part of night was seeing the 2 Blazer fans talk to him, and then seeing the guy not be a jerk the rest of the night.

TO ALL BLAZER FANS:
Root for the Blazers when you’re at a road game. Cheer when we do well. DO NOT taunt or be a jerk like this guy. It makes us all look bad.

(And what was up with his Olympic Jersey? How is that relevant to a Cavs/Blazer game at all?)

by Zaig on Jan 22, 2009 1:49 PM PST up reply actions

It was like he was saying he had America on his side.

And since no Blazers play for the Olympic team (yet), they are against America.

Is there such a thing as a Cavs fan outside of Ohio?

These people aren’t really Cavs fans at all…they are just LBJ23 fans. Why not just wear his brand of clothing rather than his jersey?

i would say that

95% of the Cavs fans in the RG are LBJ fans and maybe 5% are transplants.

Philthy I couldn't of have said it better myself

These guys don’t know anything about Ohio. I mean, I don’t either, but I don’t want to. I hate the rest of the country right now, especially after a Blazers loss. (ok I’m just kidding, I love you Delaware!)
but seriously, There were these 3 obese douche’s in 323 who got louder and louder as they got drunker and drankederer. I went up to them, politely, and said (this was around 3rd quarter) “good game, good luck, but keep it civil”, they obliged but then some other Blazermaniacs started heckling them more and more and it almost got to the point where I was going to slap a foo.

And you don’t want to see Andy slap a foo.

* "Chick flicks are illegal in my house... the only girly thing my girl watches is Project Runway." Which Blazer yelled this out in the locker room? Who else? Channing Frye. I know that's going to be somebody's signature.

In 323?

I think I know who was causin’ the ruckus.

there was a guy in the 100 section right behind the basket on the blazers bench side

he kept standing up whenever lbj scored so people where pretty annoyed already. i think the guy behind him did something to piss the lbj fan off and i saw lbj guy standing up turned around arguing/talking to him. everyone started yelling sit down to him. then a ton of people started chanting kick him out and they removed him. i saw him later walking around but not sitting at the same spot. funny stuff.

by Blazerland on Jan 22, 2009 6:49 AM PST reply actions

I saw that too.

It seemed like he wouldn’t sit down…I felt bad for the people directly behind him.

I wouldn't feel too sorry for them...

If you noticed, they (the people behind him) got kicked out of those seats too. I think both sides went over the line.

Yeah we had a whole row of them in 318

Gratuitous, obnoxious cheering at event the most minor break for Cleveland. The type of person who is a LBJ fan and who comes to the RG to act like somehow backing the favorite horse is an act of genius and individuality is a douche of almost epic proportions.

Losing the game and letting these jerks celebrate made the loss all that more difficult to stomach.

"It's like, 'Urrrrrrgh!'" Rodriguez says, his cupped hands turning into fists. "It is a good feeling. Good feeling."

These a-holes hang up their LBJ jersey, right next to their K*be, Garnett, Wade Jerseys

Douche bags front runners. Just like to be hated.

I have been an opposing fan in a home stadium, but I certainly don’t act like a jackass everytime my team makes a layup, no matter how drunk I am at the time.(and trust me, I’m pretty hammered)

Wade

Wade is Legit and respectable….

people got on the bandwagon when Garnett went to Boston and became a prick….and of course all the pricks/tools/chaunceys became a fan.

Fans like those, just make me even more proud of bein a Blazer Fan, (these days)

by Slickrex on Jan 22, 2009 3:12 PM PST up reply actions

agreed

I won’t put Wade on that list just like I won’t put CP3. Guys like Garnette 2.0, Kobe, and LBJ make me love brandon so much more on the court, and on the mic. CP3, and Wade are quality guys as well.

I'm just surprised that people are so forthcoming about being from Ohio in the first place.

Oh, that and LeBron will be a Knick before he gets Cleveland a ring, so they should probably just shut up anyway.

There was a guy like that

at Terry Porter night against the Kings. He was gone by the third quarter as Sacramento really didn’t show up. I hope he took a cab.

332?

Guy in 332 wouldn’t shut up and was being overly abnoxious when the Kings got the early lead. He left once we got up by 20.

Cavs "fans"

Take solace in the fact that a fraction of a percent of these obnoxious “fans” have no idea who Craig Ehlo, Mark Price, and Brad Daugherty are and probably removed the tags to their new LeBron jersey no more than 5 minutes before tip-off.

It’s always the people that don’t have much going for them in life that live solely for the attention they get being an obnoxious visiting team fan in someone else’s arena/stadium. Don’t give it to them.

Lakers?

The guy next to me in 305 was wearing a Lakers hat, yellow shirt and had matching purple shoes. He was very quiet throughout the game, not obnoxious in any way (besides his purple and gold wardrobe), and from his conversations with his buddy he was pretty knowledgeable about each team and the game. But, c’mon, wearing Lakers gear to a Blazers v. Cavs game?

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside.
