Roy's status still in the air
Brandon Roy went through shootaround today, but he's still a 50/50 decision when it comes to whether he'll play tonight against the Hornets. Roy said he's going to play a game of one-on-one versus Monty Wiliams pregame after which he'll make his decision.
Here's a quote from Brandon that I didn't get into my post:
"I’d rather know before the game so the guys know they’re going to play without me or their going to play with me for the full game instead of 'aw, I’m going to try to play' and after the first quarter they look and it's like 'is Brandon going to play or not? I’d rather them know going into the game If I’m going to play or not. I’m going to try to go early enough to where they’ll know if I’m going to play or not. I’ll play one-on-one. I’m going to try and play hard. Hopefully it feels good because this is a big game for us. New Orleans is right there. Utah plays the Lakers. Everybody plays everybody right now. So we’re trying to do a good job of making a run."

Well Casey, errr Lance
I actually hope they sit Brandon for one more game. Obviously i don’t know the severity of his hamstring injury but having had them myself – re aggravating and/or further damaging it by putting stress on the region before it’s close to 100% is always a strong possibility.
when i get sad, i stop being sad & become awesome again. true story.

This is less of an issue
with the lower hamstring, which is his problem.
Don’t worry, if there’s significant risk of aggravating it, he won’t be on the floor. The season doesn’t revolve around this one game, and it is potentially winnable even without Brandon. If he plays, you can be pretty sure that they are confident it’s ok.

Do you mean as they did with Martel?
Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16

Oh snap!
Amlmart1 just served Jscot!
Jscot will just respond that Martell’s current injury is supposedly a new one for Martell, and not a re-injury of the same broken foot that sidelined him before, but still— SNAP!

I thought about pokin at that......
but I figured being a insignifigant United States Citizen that can’t spell…..I better not antagonize the eventual leader/ruler of the world (it is gonna happen you’re lifetime right jscot?).

I scoff
at taking revenge on insignificant private citizens.
One day, the whole Spanish nation will suffer. I suggest the Blazers trade Sergio and Rudy to get what they can for them — before it’s too late.

Happy new year Case
as always, coming into your old haunts just to promote your new blog, sheesh. If you keep this up maybe someday you will get somewhere with this whole blogging thing. JK
Anyway not to hijack this thread (well ok maybe it is) how much of Gregs new development do you think has coincided with the return of Luc?
What do you think has made the biggest impact with his play: the return of Luc, the talk with Nate or the fact that he is going into 20+ games?
Back on topic:
Yes I think it would be good if he sat to get Bayless a few more minutes and to be 100% for the l*ker game. We will need him in May and the less miles he gets on his legs the better for him and the batter for our development.
I am going to pull the whole “We’re not going to win a title this year” excuse and say that we still need to see what we have and develop our yungins a little more as well as get a taste of playoff basketball.
PS: any rumors you have heard about Raefs contract?
kthxby

Tough to say
Coach Luke’s return is undoubtedly a good thing, and Greg seems more at ease with Maurice than any of the other coaches, in my opinion. But more than anything, I think Greg’s improved play is coming from a realization that he doesn’t have to be the best player on the court to have an impact. On top of that, his stamina is much improved and he’s starting to figure out how NBA refs call games. Maybe Luke is the reason for those realizations.

Hey Casey
I just wanted to say I was really shocked when I went to your facebook page and saw how young you are! For crying out loud you’re younger then me! I was stunned because here is one of the best most level headed bloggers in Blazer land and you haven’t yet hit 30! Can I end all of my sentences with exclamation marks? Apparently not.
At any rate, I wanted to thank you for the stellar job you do and all the inside info you dole out. However, I must say you are one of the only bloggers besides Dave that hasn’t blogged in a manner to receive a ton of hate mail (as far as I know). That means you aren’t being controversial enough to stay relevant…can’t you insult Roy’s mom’s game or something? I’m just kidding of course. In fact, the way in which you deliver the news and the juicy bits without being unnecessarily opinionated or controversial is the reason why you’re one of the best. Stay classy Casey!

Thanks
Most people see my hairline and assume that I’m well past 30, but I’ve still got a year and five months before that milestone.
In the blogging world I’m actually pretty old. I’ve been blogging about the Blazers for close to 4 years now, which at one time would have been an eternity in the online world.

A year and five months?
That means you’re almost exactly the same age as me. I was born the week after the big Mt. St. Helens eruption.
4 years online is the equivalent of 20 years at a newspaper. Will you get a gold watch from the team when you’re 35? :)
Yes! Yes! In the face!

Casey hasn't hit 30?
Come on, guys. I’ve seen this guy in person. He’s not only hit 30, he’s punched it in the face twice, given it the flying forearm, put it in a rear naked choke, and come off of the top rope and frog splashed it…twice. Don’t be fooled by the plastic surgery!

I wonder how winnability of the games affects the decision.
If he could go, but it would ensure that he’d have to skip the travel and play of the L[xxx]r game, what THEN?
What if he’s good to play one game (but not both) in the seven days between Boston and Detroit?
Suppose we can beat the Hornets with him and get creamed by L.A. without him,
or suffer close losses in both, against New Orleans without him and at La-La with him?
Not that he’d ever look at it that way, of course . . . but the medical staff might.
If he’s that borderline, it’s very possible he could go tonight, but doing so puts his status for L.A. at risk.

We're a lock for the playoffs
Rest Roy till the 2nd round! He’ll be fresh and relaxed as a daisy by then.
I want them to let Roy-Toy wait and be healthy enough so his hamstring won’t snap, or whatever bad hamstrings do. We got a good record to absorb any hurt it might cause us (or, WILL cause us) but it’ll be nothing compared to continuing to hurt the same injury all season and lessoning his long term effectiveness— or cause him to miss more than just a few games.
Let’s not “rob roy” of his game by making him play (yuck yuck yuck I said Rob Roy, he’s a person).
