Thanks again
I love these podcasts, Gavin tried the Travis thing on his show earlier today with the comparisons to Conley then Sessions, and this morning I was thinking that saying something like that is really indicative of how little Conley has developed since last season.
I guess I must not have understood him well, because I was thinking that he was using Memphis as a way to gauge the ability of Travis, and saying that he was worth less than Sessions. But I think he explained himself a little better today by saying that Travis is worth more to the Blazers than other teams, but the way he phrased it made it sound like he was making a 180 halfway through the podcast.
From the back of Travis Outlaw's Franz card: Travis leads the team in monstrous thunder dunks, wins awards for post game interviews, and often gets extra points for degree of difficulty.
Listening to it Now
Gavin just did his long evaluation and I wanted to dispute his assessment of Rudy and I wanted to dispute his points, which I thought were off-base.
He completely discounted the possibility that Rudy could reach the level of Ginobli. Well, if you compare Manu’s rookie season to Rudy’s, you might come up with another conclusion. Rudy is scoring 10.9 vs Manu’s 7.6; Rudy is grabbing 4.2 rebounds to Manu’s 4.1; Rudy is averaging 2.1 assists to Mau’s 2.0. Manu shot .438 on FG’s vs Rudy’s .424. However, Rudy is shooting .386 3pt vs Manu’s .345. Rudy is also a better free throw shooter
It’s also important to point out that Manu was 25 his rookie season with plenty of international experience while Rudy is only 23.
So it’s hard for me to see how Gavin was able to come to his conclusion on Rudy vs Manu. Obviously, they are 2 different types of players with different styles, but Rudy is so early in his NBA career, I think just about any conclusion about his ceiling is premature.
Raef's contract
- Can’t be traded anymore on draft night
- He can be brought back a la Van Horn or McKie even much later if the Blazers retain his rights (doesn’t cost much) and he doesn’t a) officially retire and b) sign with another team. As a veteran with many years of experience and previous large contracts, he would be eligible for a fairly big contract again (the reason why those two players were brought back) after that which could be thrown then in for trade purposes as a new expiring deal. Only a roster spot needs to be open.
- Still think it’s most likely they trade him before the deadline, otherwise just let him expire
If they trade him then the Blazers have no capspace at all
I'm a Blazers fan and If you ban me from your blog, I'll sue you!
what is this about?
Do I have to actually listen to the podcast to get the scoop here?

I cant believe Dave didn't mention me or the Be-bah-bones
He knows Bonzi is the resident feline prognasticator on the Blazers Edge. You could feel Dave’s mouth go agap when Holdahl mentioned his misbehaved mousers name was also Bonzi.
After all the Squeeky B. has done to bring good luck and positive karma to the team, to allow this to go unmentioned is just unconsciounable. I suppose had I not been so harsh to Holdahls piece on Travis maybe the outcome would have been different.
Its OK Bonz, I still love you.

I thought it was Gavin who named his cat Bonzi
Anyway, interesting coincidence that people thought that player(’s name) was the best choice for their cat. Can you be a bad person when people name their beloved pet after you?
I might have been Gavin
either way… Bonzi is pretty upset not to get some props for all he does for the Bedge.
Bonzi Wells wasn’t the shmuck he turned into at the time my little buddy took his name, so the answer is yes.
