Poll: Nate Robinson--Good, Bad, Tall Midget or All Three?

After neglecting work for a bit to focus on more pressing matters, like this proposed trade, I'm curious to know how everyone feels about this rumor. I've seen reports involving Frye, Sergio and RLEC to NY for Nate, Lee and possibly Curry... where this all comes from, I don't know. My guess is that somewhere there is a huge fat guy living in his mother's basement, taking a break from Worlds of Warcraft to start some trade rumors.

Anyway, the poll question is....

Poll
If the proposed Sergio for Nate trade rumor happens, how will you react?

Didn't these rumors get shot down over a week ago?

Either way, if NY was ever stupid enough to offer Nate for Sergio straight up, as in your poll, it would be a no-brainer for us to take it.

I just don't understand how hot and heavy the rumors are today.

95.5 has it all worked up. I trust KP but wonder what Nate would do for us at the PG position. But that’s why KP is KP and I’m me.

yeah I dont see how

he addresses our issues with veteran experience or perimeter defense.

Not to say he is not a nice player, but I dont see him as fit for this team, but if KP is down with it then I am down with it.

Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

Robinson has always struck me as a "me" type of player.

I am not interested in seeing that type in a Portland uniform. I believe it is pretty hard to argue that what Nate brings to the table is so important and so needed by Portland that it is worth adding a guy like him to the mix.

He’s not a PG, he’s a scorer. He’s not a defensive force either. You can’t argue he’s an improvement over Blake and Bayless could eventually give you anything Robinson does, probably more. We don’t need a backup to Roy, unless we decide to get rid of Rudy. Just what does trading for Nate Robinson get us?

The latest update is

that KP desperately wanted to make this trade but NY wouldn’t answer his calls because of disgust and contempt stemming from the email from Larry Miller. Portland is now being blacklisted because we are all bad bad bad people.

by shralpster on Jan 14, 2009 12:28 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think

Larry Miller and KP should sit on the naughty step for a few minutes. At different times of course, we clearly can’t trust them together.

I also went to OSU.

We might be each other’s dopplegangers.

And as for Nate, I was kidding. I’m not a big fan of his. I wonder what B-Roy would think of having him since they played together at Udub.

I guessed you weren't completely serious.

At the same time, he’s gritty, which we do need a little more of.

He and Roy are both Seattle-ites as well so I’m sure there’s some bond there. I dunno, I wouldn’t want this team to get too Seattle-centric… if that’s even possible.

That is funny

I thought you two were the same person, and you had made an account for when at home (the “Arby” account) and one when you were at school (the “ArbyOSU” account).

I think if you two ever meet both of your Blazers Edge accounts get deleted. Its SCIENCE.

Nate wouldn't be my first choice

though he wouldn’t be my last.

If the deal does go down—either Bayless is on his way out, or he’s gonna be the starter sooner rather than later. Having both short-guy and short-arm-guy on your bench makes no sense.

… just to get David Lee. With the possibility of losing him this summer when he becomes a FA.

Huskies Unite

Obviously the real jewel of the the trade would be David Lee. That dude can bang. but damn if this trade goes through I am excited to see B-Roy and Nate Robinson reunited. Besides the potential emotional trauma that Rudy might suffer by having the Spanish Armada broken up, I could care less about giving away Sergio. I just hope we wont have to give away Bayless too.

and then

draft Brockman in the 2nd round for an all Huskie lineup that could see court time (I’m counting Martell since he committed there before going pro)

Jerryd Bayless = Marlo Stanfield
- Early stage Marlo at this point, but Rex is the emotionless killer new to the game. He will take over, and there will be causalties – it’s just a matter of time.

Trades for Crawford and Marvin Williams?

Get all the Seattlites we can.

Think we can talk James Edwards or Detlef Schrempt out of retirement?

That is a good deal

provided Curry is not an issue (cut, trade, continues to stay home due to injury/conditioning, or least likely of all gets his act together). David Lee is the clincher for me, I wonder how Nate would react to spot duty, because if this move is made Nate is probably the #3 PG/SG (maybe even #4 SG when Martell returns)…

Curry is an issue for no other reason than the fact he has ...

… two more years after this season on his contract, for $10.5 and $11.3 million per.

You want to be absolutely sure that David Lee is the guy you think vaults Portland into a title contending team, because you wouldn’t be getting anyone else. At least not for another two years and then you are hoping that Curry’s expiring deal is attractive to someone who has a guy you want.

I’m a very big David Lee fan and would love to see him as a Blazer. But he’s not worth taking on Nate and Curry in my opinion. You also have to consider that Lee will have to be willing to resign with Portland and become a bench player. With the season he’s having now, I don’t see why he would want to do that. It is a much better career move to remain a Knick (as a starter) or go to another team he’ll start for, than become Joel’s front court mate on the 2nd unit.

My opinion

I’m huge on Lee, and (big ifs coming) if he would be content with a backup role in order to get a ring, he’s a piece that, imo, makes the Blazers a legit contender next season. The roster would be insanely deep, Oden another year removed from surgery, I’d move them ahead of NO for the West’s #2 slot. Curry I see as a potential ECEC, provided KP could make the numbers work so the Blazers wouldn’t be too constrained. Lee’s mindset (backup on contending team or starter somewhere else – possibly another contender if SA has any flexibility) is the key point, I think he’s worth dealing with the filler (Curry, Nate)

I like Nate

I’d love to see him as a Blazer. Nate-for-Sergio is something I would do.

I have less interest in Lee than almost anyone else I see on this board.
