OT: LeBron Triple Double...and Big O
LeBron is having a fantastic season, and recorded his second triple double of the season last night. But his feats are dwarfed by Oscar Robertson. Big O averaged a triple double for the first six years in the league: 30.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, 10.7 assists. Thats 13,998 points, 4,579 rebounds, and 4,923 assists in 460 games. Truly amazing! LeBron's career average -- he's in his sixth year -- are spectacular, but lower: 27.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 6.6 assists. Big O averaged 10% more points, 45% more rebounds, and 62% more assists.

As impressive as Big O's accomplishments were
Those were achieved in an era where games were much faster-paced. That’s why Dwight Howard only averages 13.8 rebounds a game, when more than a few people averaged over 15 rebounds a game, with both Bill Russell and Big Wilt averaging more than 20, in a single season.
That said, Big O’s stats were insane.

wilt the stilt
once got 43 rebounds in a game while scoring something like 78 points.
From the back of Travis Outlaw's Franz card: Travis leads the team in monstrous thunder dunks, wins awards for post game interviews, and often gets extra points for degree of difficulty.

I believe Hollinger
looked at this and his pace adjusted stats are about the same as LBJ’s.
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

By Off Track, do you mean...
lacking Darius Miles content?
The cowards never started
The weak died along the way
Only the strong survived
They were the Trailblazers

i wan’t to make one but this is already OT. Maybe edit the title to OT: Lebron’s Junk [1/14/08]?

Whenever I watch espn classic
from the late 60s, I realize again how meaningless those stats are. There’s no defense, a bunch of slow white guys are shooting set shots from 12 feet, everyone plays SSoL, and everyone looks like they’re just jogging. I remember the first espn classic game I watched was one of the famous Wilt versus Russell showdowns, and I was just crushingly disappointed at how completely unspectacular both were — and not just them, their entire teams full of HoF guys.
Kareem’s the only major pre-merger guy whose feats I really recognize, and that’s only because he proved it post-merger.
