Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

A Darius hypothetical

Let's imagine for the moment that Darius Miles plays one minute (or less) tonight and one minute on Friday before being cut. Let's also imagine that Miles's role is literally non-existant - he stands (or lies down) on the court while the rest of the team plays 4-on-5.

Issue #1: This would be a clear attempt to sign and play Miles only for the purposes of harming Portland's Cap/Tax situation. Given the response to Miller's Missive (As It Should Now Forever Be Known), does the NBA do anything about this situation? Do they simply waive Miles' tax/cap status in relationship to Portland? Do they punish Memphis? Do they do nothing and say 'tough cookies' to PDX? Do they defer the amount until Darius shows his comeback is real or not? Does Portland follow through and sue? (note, Stern did not say they would not support a lawsuit, just as Portland did not say that teams could not sign Miles)

Issue #2: Let's say I'm Hamad Haddadi, who has played 6 minutes all season (or, God forbid, Darko). Does my agent file a new grievance on my behalf, reasoning that the team would rather 'waste' minutes on Miles in order to outmaneouvre another franchise rather than play their own 'legitimate' player(s)? What do scrubeenies around the league think about this?

It might as well be official

I think after Miles game tonight we can officially say the money is as good as back on the books and yes miles can still play at an NBA level.

he can play

of course, that wasn’t the question..

the question was whether he was doing irreparable damage to the knee

but he definitely played and played for real..

he is

just on 10 day contracts so I dont see why it is clear that Memphis is only doing this to hurt the Blazers. That is going to be tough to prove even if he sits out the remainder -1 of the games he can play on under 10 day contracts.

Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

We’re on the hook. oh well, could be a lot worse. Darius is like portland’s Brett Favre or Natalie halloway. I think blazersedge should boycott all darius coverage.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
