Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Clyde is going to do a live chat on ESPN.com at 1:15 Pacific time. I think it is related to the 10th anniversary of Jordan's retirement, maybe? But regardless, it might be worth checking out if you're feeling useless at work like me.

some nuggets

JON (NY, NY): In the current league where there is no hand checking and no ruff play how much better would your numbers be?

SportsNation Clyde Drexler: (4:20 PM ET ) Oh, tremedously better, from shooting percentage to points per game everything would be up, and our team would score a lot more points, and we scored a lot back then. I do think there should be an asterisk next to some of these scoring leader, because it is much different with a forearm in your face. It is harder to score with resistence. You had to turn your back on guys defending you back in the day with all the hand checking. For guys who penetrate these days, it’s hunting season. Yes, now you can play zone, but team rarely do.

Kevin, Portland, OR: If Arvydas Sabonis had come over immediately after he was drafted in 1986, do you think you would have won a title with the Blazers?

SportsNation Clyde Drexler: (4:22 PM ET ) We would have had four, five or six titles. Guaranteed. He was that good. He could pass, shoot three pointers, had a great post game, and dominated the paint. And he would have been younger. He was very effective in the NBA as an older player who had suffered an ankle injury.

Peter (Portland Oregon) : Do you still follow the Blazers? Or is your focus exclusively Houston these days?

SportsNation Clyde Drexler: (4:23 PM ET ) My two favorite teams will always be the Blazers and Rockets. I played 11 and a half seasons for the Blazers, so I always keep up with the Blazers. I really like the way they are playing this season.

Hilarious

I can’t tell how facetious he is being, but it is really funny.

I like this one too:

Lace Lewis: Other than MJ…who gave you the most problems as far as competing on the court offensively?

Clyde Drexler: MJ was tough, but he did not give me the most problems. Rolando Blackman gave me the the most trouble. He had a great jab step, he could penetrate and shoot, and against me he never seemed to miss no matter how good my defense was. When he missed, I was shocked.

Clyde Drexler: What made MJ so hard to guard was he got up 35 shots.

Clyde Drexler: If he only got 16 shots he would not have been so hard to guard.

Man, he must not have chatted very long

He only answered about 11 questions, and plugged that Alltell thing a lot. I love Clyde, but sheesh, stay longer than 5 minutes.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
