All Star Snub?
Does anybody think that the Darius Miles issue may cause NBA coaches to turn a blind eye to B'roy when it comes time for their All Star vote? I can think of few western coaches who might do this, even though the Miles email issue is more of a management/ownership problem and most coaches are player orientated.
I may be way off on this, just a little paranoid as the break draws closer.

The Darius Miles paranoia has reached a new high.
I keep hoping for a bear market on this subject, but paranoia stock continues to climb, with a bullish outlook in the future. (sigh)
No offense Mr. Beard, but I don’t think that this affects Brandon Roy’s chances in the slightest. When everyone is treating him as they would Dwayne Wade when they plan their defense, his being left off the All-Star team is nigh impossible. If Dirk Nowitzki can make it year after year with Mark Cuban being as unpopular as he has been around the league, then Roy should be a shoe in.

technically not everyone
I mean, only NO admitted to doing that. Other teams prep for Aldridge.
Greg Oden, where posters happen.
i've heard the same thing about the chargers
Opposing teams said that they prepared for LT the same way they would any other RB…but Gates was the one they had to alter their gameplans for.

especially since it's the coaches that vote players in.
I doubt the coaches care a whole lot about the politicking that goes on between owners and gm’s of rival teams.
McGrady is the problem
The fact that K*be and McGrady have the most votes may mess it up for Roy. That puts two shooting guards in the all-star game. The coaches will probably vote in two point guards to have a more balanced backcourt and the fact that there are so many good point guards in the West. So when you vote for Roy, and I’m sure you all do, vote for Paul too.
mcgrady wont play because of in jury

They’ll probably put in a fifth guard as well

Roy will be voted in.
Coaches don’t care about that crap.

Roy = All Star
Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
The Blazers are just doing what anyone else who didn’t want to lose $18,000,000+ would do and trying to protect themselves. No one will take that out on Roy… he has zero to do with that.

thank you
This is what I’ve been saying all along, and I haven’t seen it anywhere: if it were MY money, I’d sue everybody in sight to protect it! What team — what person, what business, what anything — would sit tight and let this happen?! it’s absurd. Everybody wants to make the Blazers look like douchebags for daring to do the CORRECT thing.
no chance
Coaches will pick Roy, he is a clear all star, and I think they mostly want to stay out of the political fray.
TMac gettng voted in is going to screw someone. I don’t think it will be Roy, but it could be.
CP3 and Kobe obviously are the most deserving starters. At guard in the west, who is more deserving after them then Roy?

Tony Parker, Kevin Martin, Deron Williams?

all 3 have missed time due to injury. Fans don’t care about that stuff when voting, but coaches have been historically good about rewarding guys for their play during the current season, not past ones.
Parker – 21 pts, 3 rebs, 6 ast in 27 games (missed 9) – he and Roy are probably eqully deserving assuming he doesn’t miss more time
Martin – 24, 3,and 2 in 16 games. Betwee missing so muc time, and playng on a terrible team, no way he will get picked (nor should he) over Roy
Williams – 15, 2.7 and 10 in 25 games (missed 13) – scoring way down, don’t see coaches picking him over Roy, but it could happen I suppose
Rule #1 of nitpicking is to get it right.
That may have been true last year
This year, Roy is the West’s 3rd best guard, and the stats back it up.
Boomshakalaka
I would like to see Roy and Terry (legitimate candidate for sixth man of the year) there
But I fear the (Chinese) fans and the coaches will go with bigger names again.
Terry's got a shot
I can’t put him ahead of Paul, Kobe, Roy or Billups but he’s got a shot at being the 5th guard (but only because of the injuries to the far-superior-when-healthy Parker, Ginobili or D. Williams).
Boomshakalaka
If he doesn't get in it will be a major snub
Last year, he was a bit lucky—he got in, but if he hadnt there were other players deserving, so it wouldn’t have been an outright snub.
This year, he’s the 3rd best guard in the WC, behind Kobe and Paul. T-Mac is probably better when healthy; but even so there are room for 5 guards on the roster; nobody else in the WC is close.

Does LMA make it this year?
Injuries could open up a spot.
Really 5 guys are ahead of him
Duncan, Stoudamire, Gasol (they have the best record), West, Nowitski
It could go either way with carmelo, gay, howard, and maybe boozer on name, although his injury helps LMA

LMA in the ASG (this year) would be a shock
and a snub for someone else.
The only Blazer deserving is Roy.

Am I the only one...
…who hopes that Aldridge’s spot at the top of the ballot will somehow cause people to cast more votes for him? Yes, I know it’s ridiculous but it would be awesome. :D
nopers...
as you stated
…even though the Miles email issue is more of a management/ownership problem and most coaches are player orientated
.
Now if the GM’s were the ones voting – LOOK OUT!
when i get sad, i stop being sad & become awesome again. true story.
If I was creating the All-star teams, the West squad would be:
West Starters
—————————-
CP3
Kobe
Dirk
Duncan
Yao
West Reserves
——————————-
Roy
Billups
Parker
Amare
Shaq
Gasol (He’s been great this year and the Lakers deserve 2 All-stars)
Millsap
Its amazing how much more deep the West is at PF than at SF.

partly because of being on a better team...
… but mostly because of his better D. I definitely gave Al some consideration, however.

good list
agreed with danevan with jefferson tho…its kind of a toss up anyways.

David West suffers(to a lesser degree) from the same issues as LaMarcus (ie lots of jumpers, few boards)
His numbers this year are down from last year, plus the Hornets are not in first place the way the were at last year’s All-Star Break. I’d be willing to consider him, but in place of Shaq or Millsap— not Amare. Amare’s numbers are significantly better than West’s.
