Stacey King's Stellar Color Commentary
Maybe it's too much to expect more from a guy who managed to finagle three championship rings out of an otherwise disappointing, much too long career in the NBA, but it would have been appreciated if he had done enough homework to know that no such Charles Outlaw exists on the Blazers roster. The fact that the dude you meant to refer to almost single-handedly tore your team a new one almost seems like justice, but what's left of the man in me refuses to pick further on a Chicagoan who has clearly made it a priority to relish in the city's love of beefy, phallic treats.

That's hilarious
did he call him “Charles” for the entire game?
or did he ocassionally slip up?

I heard at least 2 and wasn't paying that close of attention. I guess the truck finally called his attention to it and he finally said that it wasn't Charles or Bo, it was TRAVIS.
I think it’s time to give Travis a memorable nickname.
Not Catfish.

Oh, You'd Be Surprised
Outlaw wasn’t his only gem. His expert critique on how the pg position was the last place we needed to look to for help was ace, too. Apparently, Blake is our little baby Jesus, and we “have the tools to compete in the Western Conference for a long time.” Yeah, let’s resign half our team first.
“You’re a role player, but you’re okay…” (aimed at The King himself)
The King’s reaction? An emphatic…“haaaa… ha ha.”
Luckily, The rotund King never had to acknowledge the fact that Batum was replaced by our slammin’ salmon.
Even when Travis shot his first set of free throws, Chicago still slyly referred to him as “Outlaw.” Well played…well played.

Plus
You know..I’d be pretty nervous if I were working alongside someone as celebrated as Stacey King but felt that pang of guilt knowing that mere seconds had passed that would have afforded me the treat of correcting a three time NBA champion.

You can't blame him
Travis Outlaw has only been a player in the NBA for 6 seasons now, and a regular impact player for 3 of those years, where Charles “Bo” Outlaw was a 10 time allstar and led the league in scoring 3 times in his 17 year career. When you hear the name Outlaw, your mind instantly races to “Bo”.
And who can forget Bo Outlaw’s famous ad campaign, where he was hitting homeruns and other famous Bo’s said he didn’t know things? It was as hilarious as it sounds.
Bo Outlaw was the voice of a generation, a first ballot hall of famer, and no one will ever think of anyone else when they hear the name Outlaw. Just in general, thoughts of Bo Outlaw are never far from anyone’s tongue, no matter who is being discussed, so you can imagine how much harder it is not to mention him when there is another Outlaw out there.
How can you not connect the two, when we all grew up regaling our friends and family in Bo Outlaw’s exploits?! I sometimes wonder if the NBA would even still exist today, if Bo Outlaw wasn’t there to bring fans and sponsors in. We all jokingly called the NBA the “National Bo Association”, and I still remember my barber messing up my high top fade because he was laughing so hard at the TRUTH of the joke.
No sir, I think we’re being silly when we expect Travis to overtake Charles “Bo” as the most prominent Outlaw, and if anything we should be HONORED that people seem to think Travis is anywhere close to as… meaningful of a person and player as Bo Outlaw.

Bo Outlaw was awesome in "10"
Sure, it was a Dudley Moore vehicle, but Bo was the real star of that flick.

But he never gets the actual name wrong.

Yeah you know it's bad
When our own tv commentator calls Oden “Odom”. He musta had a little too much drinkey-drinkey that night, but it irritated me SO MUCH.

You would think
If your job.. your entire job.. was to know 300 names of people, know something about what they do, and know even the slightest bit about the league, you would be able to avoid errors like this. and yet. Every time I watch a game, I heard horrid commentary.
Broadcasting isnt what it used to be.
Also I know its the home team, but why don’t home broadcasters ever admit that their guys did something wrong or that a call they got was BS..?
Rice does it sometimes. SOMETIMES

The day Schonz and Snapper left...
…was the day that quality Blazers broadcasting died in Portland.
Listening to Mike and Mike just makes me long for those two more.

Come to think of it, Oklahoma comes in second a lot...
It was amusing to see the Big-XII teams get spanked like schoolchildren during the bowl season, after hearing all year just how great they were.
