Von Wafer: Not Just a Feel-Good Story Anymore
It would appear that Baron Von Wafer has found an NBA home that could last. This is an excellent article about a player who through no fault of his own has been nothing more than a trading piece and a bench warmer. I for one am glad that he appears to belong in the Rockets lineup, and that he can contribute in a meaningful manner to the future success of his team.

great for him
i never understood what the deal was with him on our team…his first game he logged a ton of mins…wasn’t it upper 20s or lower 30s? then he just disappeared from the rotation. i just thought that was really weird.
anyone know whats up with ime udoka? he started out as a main rotation player for the spurs earlier this year and now i’m noticing some DNPs and a lot less minutes otherwise.

Ime Udoka fell behind Michael Finley and Bruce Bowen at small forward on San Antonio's depth chart.
Because of the arrival of Roger Mason, Jr. this season, Finley consequently slid over from shooting guard to small forward this season; thus, once Manu Ginobili returned from his early season injury, Udoka was pushed out of the rotation.
On a side note, I’m not entirely sure why the Spurs wanted one of its second-round picks in the 2008 NBA Draft, James Gist, to play overseas in the Italian League for Pallacanestro Biella — which had one former NBA player, Reece Gaines, on its roster — this season; that’s especially true since Gist could’ve probably outperformed Anthony Tolliver, who was recently released by the Spurs.
For San Antonio, I pity that franchise for having dealt with Tiago Splitter — whose draft rights are owned by the Spurs — signing a contract extenstion with TAU Ceramica that lasts through the 2011-2012 season. As a result, Spurs GM R.C. Buford should make a run at signing Greek power forward Yiannis Bourousis of Olympiacos to come to America and replace the aging, declining Fabricio Oberto — whose contract is partially guaranteed for only $1,900,000 next season — as Matt Bonner’s primary backup.
