Trade Drawer
I think this could be a possible trade scenario that KP could pull off.
We rent marion for the rest of the year for Raefs contract and get a solid backup power forward plus a 3rd point guard to ride he bench. We should also look to bring Freeland over hear next year and forget about trying to get David Lee.
Can't wait to read the comments.

I don’t like giving up Bayless for a half-year of Marion (no way he’s in our long-term plans) and a guy (Haslem) who will never be more than a 18-20 minute per game guy for us playing behind LMA
My HDTV is a JustinTV streamer who doesn't just use a webcam :(

Bayless isn’t worth half a year of Marion.
If you think I'm insulting you, I'm insulted that you'd even think that I would think of insulting you.

More of the same short sided stuff. Give up RLEC and Bayless for what? Nothing that is going to help this team win championships down the road.
Not trying to be hostile, but I totally don’t understand the thought process behind 95% of the trades that get posted here. Overpriced aging superstars are not the road to the promised land.
It just seems crazy to me.

I dont’ think Bayless should be in the Blazers long term plans. I think there are more proven veterens that could help over keeping Bayless. I would trade him for quality and I do think he will be moved.
we will have to agree to disagree
but how many point guards, even in limited minutes, get after it on D as much as Bayless? He seriously plays young Jason Kidd type of D.
He certainly has his flaws, but if he can work on his shot this summer, and have better recognition on pick and rolls, then I would say he would make it hard for the Blazers to get rid of him. Especially when guys like Channing Frye and Ike Diogu are putting a much bigger cramp on salary cap flexibility and guys like Outlaw are playing at or near their ceiling.
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.
Jason Kidd is one of the greatest defensive point guards in NBA history, with Walt Frazier ...
being the only guy who I’ve got ranked above him in that regard. Any comparison of Jerryd Bayless is total hyperbole; that’s because Kidd is a better one-on-one perimeter defender, more skilled at creating turnovers by clogging the passing lanes, and big enough to occasionally guard opposing wings. All in all, it’s insulting to place Kidd in the same sentence as a garden-variety combo guard like Bayless.
maybe
I am just saying that when I try and think back to guards that have the same sort of intensity the only comparison I can think of is someone like Kidd or Payton. You also have to keep in mind that they came up in different eras as perimeter hand checking was allowed in Kidd’s heyday where as that is an automatic foul these days. If you try and compare Kidd’s complete body of work then it would be hyperbolic, but if you are just comparing early year efforts then I dont think the comparison is unfair.
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.
I don't like it
This team isn’t at a place where a rent-a-player deal makes sense
Bayless has been testing the fences for weaknesses
In all likelihood, the Miami Heat and the Portland Trail Blazers would both decline this trade proposal.
Here’s a few reason as to why the Heat would pass here.
1. At 19-16, the Heat are in the thick of the playoff race over in the Eastern Conference.
2. Without Udonis Haslem, the Heat would be destroyed in the paint on a nightly basis.
3. Due to the slightly surprising emergence of rookie Mario Chalmers, the Heat don’t need Jerryd Bayless.
4. Shawn Marion has a huge expiring contract (i.e., $17,810,000); that devalues Raef LaFrentz in this case.
5. Despite Marion’s struggles with shooting efficiency, he’s still a great defender and rebounding machine.
right, ultimately, you only see Miami pull the trigger if they think Jerryd Bayless has the potential to be special.
If you think I'm insulting you, I'm insulted that you'd even think that I would think of insulting you.

and if he does, then we're fools in the first place for trading him away for a rent-a-marion

I dont know if chalmers
is all that surprising as the hype machine was all over him before the draft and people were predicting him as a mid first rounder. For whatever reason he fell, but is living up to the draft hype.
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.
How about this one?

All right.... That's confiscated. All of it. And I want you on the next transport off this rock or I'm gonna shoot you where it don't grow back!
sorry
but theres just no way the heat will do that trade. the heat give up 2 of their legitimate starters (marion, haslem) for diogu, lafrentz, frye and an unproven rookie (bayless)…it just completely favors the blazer side of the trade.
When Maggette missed those consecutive shots in a span of a humming bird’s flap,
Crawford simply looked at the bench and said, "Are you serious?"
No thanks
The heat wont do it, and neither would we. Crazy talk.

MVP *** MVP *** MVP
I've never scored more than 38 ..... not even in Little League.
ummm...
yeah serge for rondo not happening
they need backcourt depth not front court so ikes out
and you would need house’s consent to the trade and he wouldn’t leave a favorite for a playoff hopeful
we can dream though :)
Gilbert Arenas not close to return
http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/56526/20090111/arenas_return_appears_less_likely/
We discussed that before if they might be interested to make changes, and if especially Butler would be interesting for us. From a purely economic perspective, the Wizards ownership and management can’t be happy with their performance this year despite those injuries. And their salary cap is way too high for that outcome. In terms of their “Big 3” availability, I would still say it’s:
- Jamison (very solid player, but oldest of the group, contract could become unattractive in his last years)
- Butler (still only 28 going on 29, versatile, very reasonable contract for a player of his status)
- Arenas (injury history, huge contract, but face of the franchise on and off the court)
Yeah, time for them to blow it up
The wizards are my local team(I’m in Richmond, VA) so I hear a lot about them. I think if I were the wizards I’d blow it up. They will never be championship contenders with their current team and they have some good young talent to develop. When healthy this is their lineup:
Gilbert Arenas
DeShawn Stevenson
Caron Butler
Antawn Jamison
Brendan Haywood
That is a team that can get to the 2nd round of the playoffs but no farther.
I’d look to trade Jamison/Butler for pics/young talent/expiring contracts and play this lineup:
Javaris Crittenton
Nick Young
Dominic McGuire
JaVale McGee
Andray Blatche
That team would be one of the worst teams in the NBA but once they develop(and get some draft lottery luck) that could be a good foundation to build on. Plus if you look to trade Haywood/Arenas/Stevenson when they get back healthy you can get even more assets.

That reminds me
when Dallas traded Hershel Walker for lot’s of unproven players and picks. Everyone shook their heads and said Walker was their star and how could you trade hi; but that turned into Smith, Akman and Irvin. So I think there’s a precedent for blowing things up like that. Houston is another team in that position. They just can’t get over the hump.

The Washington Huskies definitely should’ve gone to the 2006 Final Four.
Rudy Gay is almost at a Brandon Roy level
you can’t trade spare parts for a future all-star type talent.
There were rumors today the Wolves could be getting him for spare parts
And Felton would go to Dallas. I fear KP isn’t really interested in dealing with Charlotte, unless he pounces and convinces me otherwise.
The Rudy Gay Trade Above ^
Aslo works with Bayless instead of Sergio (for all of you Spanish Chocolate lovers out there.)
Jason Quick revealed on his recent chat on Oregon Live that KP really loves Rudy Gay. He also mentioned Devon Harris.
The Gerald Wallace Trade Above
Charlotte isn’t looking to trade talent for expiring contracts, but Sacramento might. How about this:
Leaving Portland: LaFrentz, Frye, Rodriquez
To Portland: Wallace, Thomas
Leaving Sacramento: Miller, Thomas
To Sacramento: LaFrentz, Felton, Frye
Leaving Charlotte: Wallace, Felton
To Charlotte: Miller, Rodriquez
