Greg Oden's Summer Slam
Was anyone else there? Despite having a sprained ankle I decided I would head down to the Garden to check things out.
This was the first time I had gotten to see Greg so close so was pretty excited. Despite his 'people' trying to hurry him along he took the time to sign autographs and take pictures with the kids. He a gave short speech about Team Oden and the Oregon Mentors program then headed inside. Once inside he challenged a few people to some guitar hero and other games. He was very approachable
Later on near the end he made his way down to the court where he talked to the press awhile then participated in some free throw constests where people could win shoes and get them signed. I was lucky enough to win a pair and get them signed along with a shirt I had gotten signed earlier. Unfortunately I had no camera with me though. He was really nice and great playing with the kids and made sure everyone got a chance to meet him.
It's hard to undersand just how big he is until you're standing next to him or shaking his hand, it makes you feel like a small child.
There were some other familiar faces there such as Ione and some of the dancers as well as the stunt team and Blaze. I was tempted to punch Blaze though when he came over and put his arm around me and wanted a fist bump.
All in all it was pretty cool, the kids really enjoyed themselves and Greg was really involved with everyone. He even threw down a few dunks. Nothing flashy but it was still amazing watching him do that standing just feet away.

I'm just glad Greg didn't challenge anyone to DDR
nothing good ever comes of playing that game, especially for him.

"I was tempted to punch Blaze" HAHAHAH lol, I thought I was the only one. I wish I could have gone, I forgot.
I know I could beat Greg at a FT contest easily. Oh well, glad someone on BE went to tell the story. Thanks for sharing.

Once again
I love that crazy Trail Cat. He gets so much satisfaction from killing other mascots and beating up l*ker fans on the big screen. What’s not to love about that? Yes, he’s weird looking. Who cares?

rock'n.
Greg was up at that rookie orientation north of NYC the other day and I half thought about taking the train up to say howdy.
Did not, however.
