A Great Moment In The History Of Music
This may be the most important post I have written, or will write, on Blazersedge.
This is not just breaking news... this is breaking history.
Not since Tupac was shot Dylan plugged in at Newport has the world witnessed a more significant moment in musical history than what you are about to behold.
The following song is good. Really, really, really, really, really good. So good that I'm going to do something I've never done on here before. I'm going to ask that you rec this post (more on that in a moment).
Allow me to explain:
- What you are about to hear is a Tribute Song to Blazer Edge, entitled "It's a Blog's Life - Living On The Blazers Edge"...
- It was written and is performed by Chris Morrisette, a Portland Trail Blazers season ticket holder and (occasional) Blazers Edge commenter...
- It features references to usernames, RSS feeds, and, arguably, the single greatest line to end a chorus in music history, "The Shot Clock's Always Running at Blazers Edge..."
Creating this song was clearly no small effort. It also provokes no small reaction. My heart has welled, my eyes have welled, my entire body is welling. Dave, meanwhile, is passed out cold on the floor of his kitchen after listening to this on repeat for hours with Baby Point Guard.
This song is already my cell phone ringtone (I kid you not).
Hit play now!

Every child must be encouraged to get as much education as he has the ability to take. We want this not only for his sake-but for the nation's sake. Nothing matters more to the future of our country: not military preparations-for armed might is worthless if we lack the brain power to build a world of peace; not our productive economy-for we cannot sustain growth without trained manpower; not our democratic system of government-for freedom is fragile if citizens are ignorant.

The lyrics are superb, and the music has just the right balance of Springsteen/Mellencamp pop rock sweetness in it.

Accepting this as not being country is one step close to actually enjoying country. I have to admit though, i didn’t hear about any ex wives stealing a blazers truck and dog while Frye drank himself to death. That at least is a positive.

I am just a lurker on here, so i don’t really know or understand what rec means, but i had to log in anyway because this was a very impressive piece of musicianship. Someone said it reminded them of Woody; to me, i detected a little bit of Gene Clark of the Byrds.
L*kers rule...but not for long!
thanks for posting
a “rec” is a recommendation from a reader, a thumbs up if you will. to rec a post scroll to the bottom of the post (before the comments), there should be a buttom for actions to rec and unrec. recs accumulate and are displayed at the bottom of the post.
chris’s song has so far received 70 recs. that is more than double (at least) the number of recs any other post has ever received. we have a new champion!
the main function of recs is to promote the fanposts in the sidebar into the recommended section (so they will be listed at the top and be listed longer). if you read someone’s fanpost that you like, we encourage you to rec it so that it will get more visibility.
some prefer recing, some prefer commenting, some prefer both. whatever suits you…

Oh, well MAIN PAGE
If all you care about is the MAIN PAGE, maybe you’re right.
If you are talking about FAN POSTS, where people like TiH and ES and QP post (not to mention ME), I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a couple over 30. In the side bar right now (down a ways) is amlmart1’s fanpost on Rudy’s trip from Badalona to Portland, which has 25 recs.
The previous record, as far as I know, is an even 50. Serious basketball analysis, it was, too, not entertainment froth like this post. Something about a dunk, an owner, a GM or two, a player and his agent, a coach/player conversation, and a blogger in Idaho.
The most amazing thing about my amazing ego is I have amazingly little about which to be egotistical.

Thank You Everyone!
It is difficult to express how much I appreciate the kind words from you all regarding the song and want to thank Dave and Ben for allowing me to put it forth for your hearing. I NEVER expected this kind of response let alone the presentation given it by Ben and it just ranks up there as one of the coolest theings to ever happen to me…seriously!!!! Ben may have welled up ten ways to Sunday…I just about wet myself when I saw all this!!
Having been truly inspired by the incredible transformation of our Trailblazers over the past several years I’ve found in Blazer’s Edge the absolute best forum for following the analysis of how the team has developed into winners and (I believe) ultimately champions.
Basically, I’m just a fan who also happens to be a singer/songwriter. Typically once a source of inspiration kicks in and the ideas start to roll, it’s impossible to let go until it dries up/runs its course. Ballad of Greg Oden got it started, and there are even a few more tunes in the works. The song is just the best way I know to chip in my thoughts on the subject since I’m not much of a daily participater-just kind of too busy, though I will try to be more involved going forward.
In any case I do read you guys everyday and thoroughly enjoy the doings here and look forward to being a part of the community.
Thanks again to one and all!
