Trout sidelined with Staph Infection
I'm surprised no one has posted about this yet.
What's also odd is that the realgm forums are the only place I've found it posted. The post sites that 95.5 first reported this news. I didn't hear the broadcast...did anyone happen to catch it (the broadcast, not the staph)?
Luckily Staph infections (even MRSA) aren't too serious when caught early and treated.
If it's legitimate, this is pretty gross, and I'm surprised the Blazer's practice facility isn't kept a bit cleaner. I can see getting MRSA in jail, but a multi-million dollar, private athletic facility? Hmm.

its not like he has Hepatitis C
staph infection is treatable.
Just because ATF is so genuine, Im going to think a positive thought for her. According to recent advances in quantum machanics there are suggestions such inuitions actually make a difference…. there it goes….
Ive always known everything is only what we think it to be…

Staph is one of those things that run rampant in hospitals. My husband was admitted
after a very serious motorcycle accident. Ten broken ribs, collar bone broken in two places, ruptured spleen, punctured lung, large areas of missing skin and puncture wounds. He got a very virulent form of septicemia originating at the site where his intervenous stuff was being injected. The accident hurt him badly but the hospital almost killed him.
That kind of thing can be anywhere there are lots of people. Hopefully they’ll pay a little more attention to the exercise mats.

Hospitals are scary places as you know Ann.
A Doctor’s mistake, made while my wife was in the hospital was, at the very least, contributory to her death from cancer. My closest neighbor has to go back into the hospital in a few days to get totally opened up again to remove an item they left inside her when doing surgery 6 months ago.
Your husband of course had no choice, but my overriding goal is to stay out of hospitals (as a patient anyway). Keep that immune system tuned up.
The statistics on deaths caused by mistakes made by doctors and hospital staff and infections contracted while in the hospital are staggering.
I remember telling him how impressed I was with a player during summer league. In Avery's unique voice, he replied, "Marc, it's summer league." I

3 med errors/hour
This is the average medication delivery error rate at each hospital. Wow!

The emergency services at the hospital were very good but the after care was abominable.
I try to stay away from doctors and hospitals. Since HMO’s have taken over the health care systems the quality of care has plummeted.

Try not to get admitted during the night shift
If you can wait until the day shift, by all means do it

Locker rooms and gyms are pretty common places to pick up MRSA.
Even if it’s kept clean. Many many people carry it without knowing it and some people never show symptoms.

Hope (and assume) it's plain old staph
and not resistant.
A coworker recently came down with MRSA, and she was in the hospital for 4 days as a result. And a friend of a friend (but a real person, I swear!) was on a 2-week long IV drip with MRSA.

this offseason
There have been lots of injuries and surgeries and infections, no? Are we just paying attention much more attentively? Roy, Frye, Trout, uh, wasn’t there another? Oh yeah, Rudy literally catching fire in Beijing.

It sure seems like lots of injuries/bugs
Next thing you know Raef will come down with Rickets. Book it.

Even our immediately traded draft night picks blow their knees out
Odenied: Asked whether he noticed Oden favoring his right knee, Frye dismissed it entirely. "He favors dunking on your head, that's what he favors."

Ömer Asik. Now that's the Bull's problem, and we have three second round picks instead

Wow
I hadn’t even heard about his knee. I guess that trade worked out. Unless all of our future second rounders blow out their knees also.
On a related note, my wife asked me last night, if the Blazers do something, maybe a training technique, a drill in practice or something, that causes player’s knee’s to explode.

I doubt we will do much more with these picks than use them as trade bait
As a throw in to get a first rounder or a better draft position for example. But right now, I feel better about having three second round picks from teams that might finish a little below us than a raw center prospect in Europe who might turn out to be the next Okur when all is said and done but just lost 6+ months of development. I think I remember that Adam Morrison didn’t come back at all until now after tearing his ACL last pre-season, so it might be even more.

If they only blow out one,
we will still have their three good knees.

Last spring I had a "bug bite"
which became infected and later abscessed. I had to have it opened and drained and the tests revealed that I have the MRSA virus. What I’ve learned is that it’s transferred hand to nose and tends to live in the nose. It can be picked up anywhere. Anywhere.

MRSA is actually bacteria
Just sayin’.

Lesson
Don’t pick your nose. Don’t pick your friends’ noses.
Note to Blazers’ staff – find out who is using the gym mats in the training facility as Kleenex™.

If it's anything like what we had in Alabama
Then it’s red clay mud. It stains everything, cars, houses, pets, clothes, and even roads. Maybe Outlaw just has a stain on his leg.

Could that be a real problem if you have asthma already (which Trout does)?
I mean, could that lead to serious pneumonia problems?

Check out the Wikipedia article
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methicillin-resistant_Staphylococcus_aureus
Basically, it’s a nasty skin infection that doesn’t heal. Unless you have an open wound that becomes raised and full of pus, you don’t have anything to worry about.

MB said tonight
on Courtside that he got the infection in Miss., not in PDX, and it’s in his knee.

Lots of mention about wrestlers getting staph from mats.
What bothers me, is: What level of mat-contact has Trout been involved with at the Blazers facility?
As much body contact with the mats as freaking WRESTLERS get?!?
Am I the only one bothered by this?
